noisy cdrom drive

Hi!

Just bought a new laptop, lenovo thinkpad edge s430. and the cd-rom drive makes extreme amount of noise when in use. I have experienced this with my old pc but i was wondering if there was a way to make it less noisy, as the noise is a bit annoying albeit not impossibleh

not really it is what it is, only way to is potentially replace it with a different brand that fits and uses the same connectors, in which case it may not make it quieter altho it should but i digress that voids the warranty


pretty much leave it the way it is if its not broke dont fix it if it is broke time to submit an RMA

Im afraid it doesnt as i dont have those setting options, but but its not only only. I guess ill try livewith it

I have the exact same problem on my E520. It appears that pressing my finger on the cover removes a lot of the noise. It only happened when I was installing Ubuntu though, otherwise it's loud but not THAT loud really.
