    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-19381098

US astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the Moon, has died at the age of 82.
His family says he died from complications from heart surgery he had earlier this month.
He walked on the Moon on 20 July 1969, famously describing the event as "one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind".
Last November Armstrong received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest US civilian award.
He was the commander of the Apollo 11 spacecraft. He and fellow astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin spent nearly three hours walking on the moon.
A truly great man, a titan amongst men, may he rest in peace.

Nowadays the US cant even get out of LEO, how the mighty have fallen!

Well by 2025 we might visit an asteroid or something, thanks to Obama his legacy lives on!

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
There, I made this political, being the "science" president completely fubared NASA. It was the one thing Armstrong spoke out about, and he was never one to try to seek publicity.

Funding for NASA is always been going down. It doesn't bother me really when private companies are trying to pick up the slack from NASA. Besides i would rather my money not be going to the organization who is still seriously using the big fail spacecraft called the Space Shuttle.

    They aren't using space shuttles.

I know, they retired them. After 30 years of use when they were supposed to only last 10. It was a waste of money. NASA could have come up with something better than those shuttles.

At least He made it inside a Michael Bay movie.

Shame, one of the greatest men to walk the earth, almost poetic that on the moon he was a regular bloke. Humbling really.

Years of work by NASA and others got him and two others up there with him. Nothing against him or the others. But "one of the greatest men to walk the earth" is a bit much. I'm sure he'd agree.

    RIP Neil Armstrong.
Hopefully, interest in space exploration will increase in the future.

Also, 6644kp can you spoil that picture? Too big.

Well he had a long and interesting life, I'm glad that was so. It's a pity so many others don't.

A man who ruined the dreams of many by proving once and for all that the moon is in fact not made out of cheese.
