Default And what about customize our units?

I mean, why he have to made a army with separated units. Why cant we made customizable units, mixing spears ,axes, and swords? The bonus should be giving depending the units balance, supposing that the spears are 50% of the unit, the swords 30% and the axes 20% so it means that this unit could be good against calvary, but not so bad against swords and axes units. This could be very good mainly in on line battles,I mean we try to reach a prefect balanced unit.
And historically,at least the barbarians, have tis kind of army compositions. A mixing of weapons in every unit.

How about you just put ne. It formation over the other? Possible in rtw 1 even, saves from
lag, and makes room for different features! I like the idea but I think to an extent this can already be done.

I believe Lusted answered this already. It's to ensure that each unit has a distinct purpose on the battlefield, and a case where historical accuracy should shut the up and take a backseat to gameplay.
Edit: Here's the post in question.

Anyway, mixing the units its just a possible improvement to the TW series, in the tactical gameplay we did not saw many improvements since the first game.

TW's system can't handle an army like the ones in real life. Of course its stupid that armies would be made of 120 men squads of the same type of unit, but its what we have to deal with. It would be nice to have mid-Republic armies include maniples that have the first line as Hastati, the second as Principe, and the third as Triarii, but how will we tell when we want these lines to advance like they did in the Roman army of the time? The simple solution would be to create units and while you lose historical accuracy, you can control your units much more historically correctly, if you know what I mean.

I believe CA has stated in the past it's not possible to have multiple weapon types in a melee unit, re legionaries with axes and pikes.

Also I fail to see how the vid is meant to support this idea.

Also I think it's not broken English, but just lazy typing.

Well I did like the idea of all units more or less being a mob with various different sword, spear, axe and shield combinations which doesnt have to affect the gameplay in anyway, just make the combat look more varied when you zoomed in. Of course Pikemen or Phalanx capable units would all have to have a spear but they could be of different lengths as some soldiers probably preffered different lengthed pikes.

But thats really just to make zooming in on the battlefield more varied and intresting rather than hundreds of the same weapon armed units doing the same attack combinations but its not that big of a deal, its just something you mod in if you want it.

Well now, if all units would be made up like that, then why would they develop different units at all. That one unit is good for every purpose you would end up with one kind of infantry, one kind of cavalry and one kind of ranged unit. Sorry, that would just be too boring.

Not to the degree OP is asking for. Legion customization is probably going to be similar to general ranks.

The devs have already said they will not be using different weapons in a unit, as it will upset the rock paper scissors strategy of the game.

All I need is color, banner, and name changes for me. Anything else is over the top but still awesome.

OK.Have spears and swords mixed may cause problems in terms of animations.
But have no axes, long and short swords in the same unit, is just to artificially increase the number and type of game units. At least now, the game engine can vary the faces and clothes.
As I said, in tactical and strategic terms everything will stay the same, probably be added various new RPG elements but the essence of this game ,the battles, will be equals to all previous titles.
The jump from Medieval to Rome TW(1) was enormous, and now we can only expect minor cosmetic changes.
