Default Is Rome 2 going to be mod friendly unlike shogun 2

Is Rome 2 going to be as mod friendly as med 2 and Rome. I would love to see that because it makes the game shelf life and playability much longer.

at this stage it is impossible to say but according to CA, R2 will be just as hard to mod as shogun because few modders can learn the complexity in the more recent total war titles.

It's not called complex if you dont have the tools to even do it.

It's on an upgraded version of the same engine so, it's basically the same things only it looks better and it should work smoother, but the core programming is probably the same. Therefore, I wouldn't have my hopes high.

CA have said that at the modding summit they will talk to modders and see if they can do anything to make it abit easier for them but it's the same engine, albeit heavily modified. As much as i would like to see a LotR-conversion mod im not counting on it.

Yes, create a summit and then do nothing about it.

It saddens me (as a modder), but the answer to your question is almost certainly no.

    right?

your never modded a TW game, and Mount and Gladius(Warband) you didn't mod anything for it to my knowledge? Which im pretty sure about, Well atleast didn't seen any of your work in the mod, so claiming the "modder" title, what have you modded?

Oh, nothing official for TW, just minor stuff for my own amusement. In terms of Mount&Gladius, I'm leader of that now, coder, animator, modeller, texturer.

I've also got something else in the works for Mount&Blade.

Anyway, if you have further questions, PM me, we wouldn't want to bring this off topic.

    P.S You remember me

Maybe this could also have to do with: contracts - steam - copyrights.

Not sure how steam is bound to the ability to autmatically (upon request by user)
to fix your game in case it got broken. Off course there is always the part where it
    says: not original/lost guarantee

But maybe nowadays some things have changed here - i don't know - just an idea
    which came into my mind.

Maybe it's another problem similar to the above example or maybe my thought is
just simply wrong - as i said - i don't know - just wanted to share the thought.

I would agree with these guys. The engine will be pretty much the same and thus will likely be as unmoddable as it is now. However having said that - the modders do still seem to be making progress on modding the Warscape games and even with the campaign map a couple of people are making some new discoveries, so perhaps we may see modders figure out enough of the engine to be able to create new total conversion mods (that is if hardcoding doesn't make some things impossible of course).

It sucks that its not gonna be as moddable but your right people are making some headway with the modding of the warscape engine. But one thing to look forward to is better optimazation and graphics.

CA/Sega for more PR "sweet talks about how they endorse modding" the truth is they prefer you to buy a game each year and buy their dlc if you want what is locked on your disk already. they make more profit if you play and dish the game and go buy their new stuff rather then play the same game for too long instead of keep opening your wallet........ new game, new dlc = money, modding = no money !! resuming if you want a mod you can pay CA dlc and then there you've new (locked) content
Common sense removed due being Disruptive.

No, it won't be. Which means that it better be a pretty awesome game. TW modding is pretty much over with exception of M2 and some on Rome.

I buy the complex part, I don't however like it when they use it as an excuse.

Yes the engine is complex, they are supposed to be, that doesn't mean you shouldn't take the time to make it simpler for the consumer to fiddle with.

Warcraft series and Starcraft had great modding tools and if i remember the community made an even more advanced Editor which soon made blizz higher the Limit for maps greatly so yeah Warcraft 3 had some of the funnest maps/mods Ever.

If TW can pull off a Campaign Toolkit i'll love Rome 2, and maybe so much epic can spawn from this game to last for Years like Rome and than Medieval 2 did.

Imagine Third Age in Fantastic Graphics, Warcraft Total war in Epic Battlefields, Warhammer Epicness, Westeros with all its Blackwater greatness.

I personally think they should kinda focus on modding as a Higher piority thing other than the AI, Optimization, Scale, Features.

I just will wait a year or 2 and just stick with med 2 untill Rome 2 has A somewhat decent mod. not Darthmod decent(Because those mods are kinda boring except for the Empire version), but actuall mods not to be mean to the darthmod series/Radious but eh your mods really only just fix the game not really Change it into something epic.

Warscapes about as complex as a tooth pic if you use the pfm, without it good luck. IMO i dont see why everyone hinks warscapes so much harder too mod in general it really isnt, all thats hard is campaign and adding animations. Campaign is CA fault and animations are motion captured so unless you have equiptment you cant add new ones. In regardes to everything else I think its easier, more efficent and more fun(less time you spend fiddling with files more time spent modding). It took me 15 days to get medieval 2 modding, it took me 2.5 for shogun 2.(now i did medieval 2 before shogun)

Inregardes for rome 2 I think we can see everything except new animations, a new campaign map, and maybe no new models(depends if someone puts the effort to make a converter).

    *Day equals 6 hours.
    My mods
-Mod Leader for the Wheel Of Time This is not the beginning, but it is a beginning
-Mod Leader for Shogun 2: Foreign Invasion if you want a mod with alot of units this is for you, not only is there the 40 units CA made theres planned to be atleast 177 NEW units when its done.
-Modder in the World War I and Shogun II project. The only full scale mod for FOTS and it plays nothing like FOTS. FOTS may have Gatling guns, WW1&S2 has tekidanto samurai, SNLF, MGs, kisho snipers, assault infantry(shotguns) just to name a few.
