    Default In-game town labels replaced by character labels.

    Hey all

    I'm not really sure how I managed this. Though I doubt it is relevant, I just attempted to assassinate the king of France. The screen very briefly showed some text, it looked like code but it was only visible momentarily, before being replaced with the loading screen. The game then continued from the beginning of that turn (the assassination had not been attempted) but the labels beneath the towns, showing name, income, population happiness etc. had gone, and instead all characters on the campaign map had a label with their name and nothing else. There seems to be no way of changing this in options, and going on the way it happened, I'd assume it was a malfunction of some sort anyway. Has anyone else had a similar experience or know of how it might be resolved?

    Thanks a lot

    Max

    Go to your config file. If it's vanilla, it will be a file called medieval2.preference. If it's a mod then it will be a config file within the mod folder. Within the file it will have this:

    label_characters = 1
    label_settlements = 0

    Set the settlements value to 1 and the characters value to 0.

    This happened to me before. You can do it in game: Ctrl+n toggles display of unit names and Ctrl+t toggles settlement names.

    Vanilla, it wasn't the first campaign or assassination. I found the file, opened it up, the contents are:

    [video]
    widescreen=0
    [game]
    allusers=1

    That's all. I tried editing in the lines you mentioned but access was denied. Is there some trick I'm missing?
