Default New laptop can't detect wireless networks

I just installed Windows 7 on my new laptop - HP Pavilion G6-2011. I'm a total newbie to installing lan drivers. I succeeded on my desktop and just plug in the cable. But the laptop can't detect my wireless network and I have to plug in the cable. Any solution?

I'll play secretary for a bit. Please answer a few questions.

When you say your laptop can't see the network - have you moved your laptop directly next to the hotspot? If so, are you getting nothing whatsoever in your connection window?

Have you tried opening Network Connections under the Control Panel on your laptop and tried adding that laptop to the network? It may be that the laptop "sees" the network but you haven't added the network to the system for it to report.

You've been a bit spartan in your details. If you can flesh out your problem a bit more we may be able to help. Any detail you can add will help. Good luck!

If you recently installed a new OS it's most likely missing the driver for the wireless. Connect the laptop to a wired connection and run Windows update. It may be able to pick up the wireless driver from there.

If that doesn't work you need to get the driver from HP's website.
