Default Riverrun, Seat of House Tully, Lords Paramount of the Trident

Riverrun is a busy, rich town in a fertile area and a strong castle too. It sits at the meeting point of two great rivers, the Tumblestone and the Red Fork. The castle, like the keep inside it, is triangular, protected on two sides by the powerful rivers. The third side can be flooded with sluice gates in times of war, turning Riverrun into an almost impenetrable island. All members of House Tully can normally be found here.

    History
Though Riverrun has always been a prosperous town and a formidible fortress, it was not until the arrival of the Targaryens in Westeros that the Tullys had been rulers of the Riverlands. Though the House is as old as any in Westeros, with roots going back to the Age of Heroes and the times of the First Men, the Tullys have never been Kings, always serving as vassals to another. When Aegon the Conquerer swept through the Riverlands, it was Lord Edmyn Tully who was the first to join him, revolting against the rule of the ironborn King, Harren the Black. He was rewarded later by being made Lord Paramount of the Trident, owing loyalty only to the King on the Iron Throne.
More Recently, the current Lord of Riverrun, Lord Antin Tully, has been seeking allies from among the other Great Houses of Westeros. The Riverlands has been a fairly peaceful place since the Targaryen's took the throne, but before that it was always the battleground of the Kings of the Vale, the Rock, the Reach, the Stormlands, the North and the Iron Islands. Lord Antin wishes to ensure, by allying with one or more of these powerful Houses, that any war is done on his terms, and well away from his lands.

    Family Tree

    Main Characters

    Lord Antin Tully
    Age: 46 (Born 137 A.L.)
    Gender: Male
Rank: Lord of Riverrun and Saltpans, Lord Paramount of the Trident and the Riverlands
Marital Status: Married to Lady Lyra Tully (Née Royce)
Parentage: Second son of Lord Edmar Tully and Lady Evelyn Tully (Née Mallister)
Appearance: Fairly tall at 6'1", Lord Antin has nutty brown hair combed back neatly, with wild brown eyes. He is considered comely, and has a short, closely cropped beard.

Description: Lord Antin was born as the second son and youngest child of the last Lord of the Trident, Edmar Tully. His two older siblings, Leon and Leona, were twins, and several years older than Antin. When he was three, his father held a meeting of all of his bannermen at Riverrun. Antin was considered too young to be allowed to wander off, and so was kept in the sharp gaze of his mother in the Great hall. Leon and Leona soon wandered off to one of the towers of the castle. It had stood for thousands of years, and was believed to be perfectly stable, but it mysteriously collapsed with the two children inside. The multitude of guests at the gathering meant that some of the Lords were suspected, but no evidence was ever found. Antin became the sole living child and heir of Lord Tully. Years later, he developed into a strong and handsome knight, winning the heart and the hand of a young maiden of House Royce. He has never fought in anything resembling a true war, and is unaccustomed to the nature of combat.

Antin is a loud man, quick to laugh, with a deep booming voice and a desire for good, clean justice. He is a slow and considered man - he will not charge into a decision, instead analysing all options before deciding how best to proceed. What he wants most is the safety of his family, and after that the safety of all of the people of the Riverlands. When he lost his brother and sister, Antin became driven to uncover the reason for their deaths - to this day the maesters and servants of the castle swear the tower was far too stable to have collapsed accidentally.

In the year of 180, Antin was stricken by a mysterious disease, which left him feverish and bedridden, close to death, for almost two years. When he recovered, he was thin, had lost most of his muscle, and seemed to have aged ten years. His hair was streaked with grey.

    Edwin Tully
    Age: 17 (Born 166 A.L.)
    Gender: Male
Rank: Heir to Riverrun and Saltpans
Marital Status: Not married or betrothed
Parentage: First son of Lord Antin Tully and Lady Lyra Tully (Née Royce)
Appearance: As a boy, Edwin was short and slightly plump. Edwin resembles his father, with the same brown hair and lively brown eyes. He was a fairly handsome lad, despite being slightly plump, but in his teenage years he grew upwards a fair amount, and became tall for his age, so that he no longer appeared to be fat. Now a man grown, Edwin is tall and muscular at 6'3", with short and neat brown hair and a brown goatee.

Biography: Edwin, as a young boy, strived to emulate his father, who he saw as a mighty warrior and a wise Lord. In their time at Riverrun as wards, Edwin befriended the King's bastard, Daemon Waters, and particularly Moryn Tyrell, brother of Lord Victarion. At the tourney of Brightwater Keep, Edwin encouraged his friend Moryn to enter the joust, rather than the melee which Victarion urged him to join. In the main event, Moryn was thrown from his horse and injured horribly, losing the use of his right arm. Edwin blamed himself, and after seeing Moryn in his recovery bed, fled the room in tears.

Ser Edfrey Tully, "The Walking Corpse"
    Age: 37 (Born 146 A.L.)
    Gender: Male
    Rank: Knight of the Kingsguard
Marital Status: Not married or betrothed
Parentage: First son of Ser Isaac Tully and Dysara Tully (Née Darklyn)
Appearance: Edfrey's somewhat gaunt cheeks are hidden behind a thick, flambouyant moustache, as black as his long, wavy hair. His eyes are small and beady, set back deep in his face, making him seem skeletal. He is also very thin, but wiry and hard too. He is a nimble and dangerous swordsman, standing at 6'3".

Biography: Edfrey is the cousin of Lord Antin Tully, son of his uncle Isaac. He was a good student, and his father considered sending him to the Citadel, but he proved to be a finer warrior when he was old enough to spend most of his days in the practice field. He grew to be the largest of his training partners, at 6'3". He was knighted at the age of sixteen, and has served his Lord loyally since. Edfrey rarely speaks, and when he does his voice is soft and rasping. This, combined with his gaunt face, earned him the title "The Walking Corpse". Edfrey grew a moustache in an attempt to hide his hollow cheeks, but he was already known by the name by the time the hair obscured them. He was inducted into the Kinsguard of King Aegon IV in 174 A.L and has continued to serve his family since.

    Emelyn Tully
    Age: 24 (Born 159 A.L.)
    Gender: Female
    Rank: None
Marital Status: Not married, not betrothed
Parentage: First daughter of Lord Antin Tully and Lady Lyra Tully (Née Royce)
Appearance: Having entered her womanhood, Emelyn has become the envy of every woman in the Riverlands. Her beauty is undeniable, with thick tumbles of auburn hair and transfixing green eyes. She has wide, curved hips and a slim waist.

Biography: Emelyn is a beauty on the outside, but has a determined and sometimes vindictive nature not unlike that of a spoiled child. She loves her home and family, and will do all she can to avoid being taken from it. As a child, she had a dark, manipulative and ruthless centre, but she never let her guard down, and always appeared smiling and gracious. As she developed into a woman, this kind facade became her true nature, and she lost most of her deceptiveness. She was named Queen of Love and Beauty at the Tourney of Brightwater Keep by the champion, Jon of Duskendale, the Knight of the Old Oak. She has not seen the man since, despite looking for him at great length.

    Carlus Tully
    Age: 4 (Born 179 A.L.)
    Gender: Male
    Rank: None
Marital Status: Not married, not betrothed
Parentage: Second son of Lord Antin Tully and Lady Lyra Tully (Nee Royce)
Appearance: A squawling babe, he looks like the rest of them.

Biography: Though Lord Antin is the kind of man who loves all of his children, the wait for his second son was long and difficult, and the security it finally brought to his line was something he had long desired. Carlus was eventually born, thirteen years after his older brother and with two girls born in the years between. To say much is expected of him would be an understatement.

    Minor Tullys:

    Lady Lyra Tully (Née Royce)
Sofia Tully (Betrothed to Moryn Tyrell)
    Leona Tully
Anyra Tully (Wife of Damion Lannister)
    Liliiana Tully

    The Dead

    Ser Isaac Tully
    Age: 61 (Born 113 A.L.)
    Gender: Male
    Rank: Sworn Sword
Marital Status: Married to Dysara Tully (Née Darklyn)
Parentage: Second son of Lord Simon Tully and Lady Clarys Tully (Née ?)
Appearance: The signs of Isaac's old age are clearly visible in his face, with deep wrinkles and a cynical frown. His hair is a dull grey, his rough grey beard flecked with black, with a large nose protruding from his face at a slight angle. His jaw is wide and chiseled, and he is lean and hard, standing at 5'11". His brown eyes always seem suspicious.

Biography: The uncle of Lord Antin, Isaac Tully is a shrewd man on and off the battlefield. One of the greatest commanders in the Riverlands, Isaac proved his prowess at just seventeen, when he slayed the bandit King Morgo in the ruins of Oldstones, with a much smaller force than his enemy had. He is cautious but calculating, taking his time when he can but swooping quickly if he spots an opportunity. He is Lord Tully's most trusted counsellor.

"My Lady." The thin, young maester smiled at her joyfully from her bedside, clasping her hand. "You have done very well, and the child is healthy."

The relief washed over her like a wave, and for a moment she forgot the pain. "And?" She managed weakly.

"A girl, Lady Lyra. Fat, healthy, and strong."

She sighed. A small part of her was dissappointed, she knew that Antin wanted another son. Still, she had much to be thankful for. She said a silent prayer to the Seven, for giving her a fourth child, and for her own survival. Childbirth was always difficult, even after three. The first had been the hardest, Emelyn, but then Emelyn was difficult even now, though Lyra's love for her was no less fierce for that. After Emelyn, she had Sofia, and then Edwin, and now her youngest girl.

"Let me hold her." The maester obeyed at once, handing over the tiny bundle. When Lyra looked at her daughter, it was all she could do not to cry for joy.

"Leona, she is called Leona." The name was held by Antin's elder sister, the twin of Leon, both of whom had perished many years ago, when Antin was little more than a babe. She knew he would approve of the name. She didn't take her eyes off of the baby. "Tell Lady Evelyn, that House Tully has another beautiful girl. And send a raven to King's Landing, my Lord husband will want to know."

The maester inclined his head. "At once, my Lady."

As the maester left the room, Lyra whispered to her daughter. "Leona..."

Andros Lannister, with his son Damion, approached the door of Lord Tully's quarters. When they noticed the guards, made themselves and their purpose known.

One of the two guards dissappeared behind the door. There was some muttering from the other side, before a voice called out.

    "Come in, noble Lannisters."

Andros Lannister entered as bidden with his son. He looks around and sees Antin Tully seated behind his study, "Lord Paramount of the Riverlands!" Andros exclaims and bows "It is my honor for you to entertain my son for a marriage with your noble family"

Damion bows as well, quiet. He was talented in a great deal of things, but speaking to women had not been one of them, his nerves were racked in anticipation.

OOC: I don't know if you saw what happened with all those OOC posts that were deleted, but basically we have now timewarped to after the wedding and are back in Riverrun.

Lord Antin stood to greet his guests, a wide and warm smile on his face. "Welcome, welcome to Riverrun, noble men of House Lannister! The honour is mine, Andros. Ah, and this must be Damion. Welcome! Please, both of you, eat of my food, and have a cup of my drink." He walked over to a table where several plates and goblets were set out - bread, fresh fruit, and a little roast pheasant, along with wine, beer and water. As was customary, Antin wanted to ensure his guests had the protection of guest right.

    OOC- ok

"Thank you for your hospitality My Lord." Andros stood by his seat, unwilling to sit before the Lord Paramount, and drank from his cup. "How fare things for you and your lands good Lord?"

Damion stood by his chair as well. He was never much of a drinker, but his nerves could use the extra push to calm them.

Outside the window, one could see Daemon practicing with a little toy sword, swinging it at a tree and trying to crush bugs.

Antin, seeing the Lannisters standing, decided to do the same. "The Riverlands are at peace, thanks to good harvests and strong Targaryen rule. There has been nothing to deal with but a few small bandit groups since my uncle Ser Isaac slew the self titled 'Bandit King' in Oldstones some forty years past. The man was no King, but he had a very large band of very dangerous followers. The Seven are kind to us, that such a thing has not happened since. Ser Isaac is the father of Ser Edfrey of the Kingsguard, and also my cousin Anyra."

"I see, yes the upheaval and rebellion has been to a minimum, but we have just had to put our own bandit group down. I was not there but reports say it was a nasty deed. May we sit and enjoy the food you have provided for us?" Andros asked. "Will and of your other family be joining us this evening?" Andros asked politely going to get a glimpse of the girl they had came to meet

"Yes, you may sit." Antin sat too. "Yes, most of my family is present in Riverrun at the moment. I shall be there, of course, along with my wife, Lady Lyra, and my eldest three children, Emelyn, Sofia and Edwin. My youngest daughter, Leona, is still far too young to join us at the table. My uncle will be there too, and his daughter Anyra," Antin glanced at Damoin. "as well as my Lady mother, Evelyn Tully."

At the mention of Anyra's name Damion blushed, Andros saw this and smiled. "Please excuse the lad my lord, I have kept my son by me learning all the things he would need to know to be in charge of Lannisport one day. Unfortunately that has not left him any time for women, it seems he is still very nervous. He is not as.....self-assured as his cousin, but he is much more grounded." After saying that, Andros then looked at the Antin for a moment. "My brother and liege lord also sent me with some words, words he said he did not feel comfortable having with you at kings landing. There ARE a great deal of extra ears in the city to be sure."

Lord Antin looked at Andros. "Yes, he and I said as much when we met in the Red Keep. Very well, I will make some time for that later. And Damion, if it is any comfort to you, I'm sure my cousin will be just as nervous at the prospect of meeting you as you are at the prospect of meeting her." He chuckled.

"It is an honor to be in your house, and to be blessed with the possibility of joining your house." Damion said respectfully.

Andros smiled at that, "then let's be merry! Seldom do important men get to be happy as genuinely as we are!."

Antin mirrored the smile. "Indeed, and what better way to truly enjoy merriment than with a feast? Come, let us go to the Great Hall, the food should be ready shortly." He led them out of the room, down several flights of stairs, and out of the keep. The Great Hall sat across from them. As they entered, they saw many guests taking their seats, including some Lords from neighbouring towns and castles - Lord Piper of Pinkmaiden, and Lord Blackwood of Raventree Hall, among others. Several seats were empty at the head of the largest table, for Lord Antin and his guests. A large woman, sat next to one of the empty seats, stood nervously as the Lannisters entered the hall.

Soren is shown to the Lord's solar at the top of the keep, his men are asked to wait in the castle courtyard.

As Soren enters, Lord Antin looks up from his desk, managing a smile. "Ah, yes, Soren Reyne, my castellan informed me of your arrival. Welcome to Riverrun. Please, sit." He gestured to a chair across the desk from him. "Have some food, and something to drink. Wine, perhaps?" As he speaks, a servant comes in with a plate of simple food - fresh bread and fruit, with sausages and bacon.

Soren sits and smiles slightly. "Thank you my Lord, you are very hospitable." He asks the servant for some wine. "My sincerest condolences to the death of Ser Isaac. Apart from this deadful event, are things well in the Riverlands?"
