Am I doing it wrong?
Hey!
I'm not sure if I'm missing something significant, it feels like I'm doing it wrong.
I haven't played TW since Medieval 2, my friend however has stayed more upto date, he recently purchased a new laptop which allowed him to enjoy shogun more, so he twisted my arm that we should do it multiplayer - it sounded great, but then we tinkered around and it's not quite what we hoped for. But that might be us missing something.
Basically - We want to do a full campaign, together. But we soon noticed that Player 2 will be very bored if player 1 has a few battles to do. To get around this we agreed than unless absolutely necessary we will auto resolve all battles.... and then soon realised that as the turns get longer there is alot of twiddling your thumbs waiting for your friend to complete their turn. This was ok, while he was at my house, but we haven't managed to sync up to complete another turn since.
It seems this could have all be solved if the save files were stored online - Player 1 can tell player 2 it's going to be a long turn, maybe there are 2, 3 battles he wants to do, so player 2 could leave the session and resume his single player campaign, and through the week they can check in and see if it is 'their go' - A little like the olden days when people played chess through the mail! heh
For a game like this, it would appear to be an awesome feature to host the save file.
But maybe that option is available and we're just doing it wrong?

Re: Am I doing it wrong?
Hi, I am writing this based on my memory when I played co-op campaign with my friend.
Before you started the battle, there is a configuration screen. Set the campaign turn to 2 minutes, auto resolve battle, if in conflict, choose battle. Limit battle time to 10 minutes. You can also let your friend to join the battle on the campaign map. You can give some of your units to your friend to command on the battlefield.
The host must always save the game before end of his turn. If there is a desync, the host must send the save game file to the other party. Load the game again, you should be able to continue the game.
