Default Dont let EB II fall!

The team has put their heart and soul in to this mod! Even though Rome to is on the way EB II will be the porper way forward. Do not let this mighty mod go. All historians (me as well) are on your side guys. The addiction to history that you have, we cherish.

No one interested in antiquity is going to let EBII fade into obscurity simply because of the release of Rome II. I will not even be buying Rome II at release if CA does not make an effort with mod support. Besides, buying a copy later has the advantages of having a fully patched game, likely with additional DLCs on the hard copy.

And once again if Rome II resembles vanilla Rome in any way in terms of an absent gravitas and respect for history, and kiddie gimmicks then it is simply not worth my time to play in unmodded condition. Playing around with rainbow pyjama warriors was fun when I was a preteen, but now I'd just feel silly. I don't want to play with any Gladiators or 300s or Spartacuses either.

The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of the Conservatives is to prevent the mistakes from being corrected. - G.K. CHESTERTON

I'm fairly sure that Rome 2 isn't having any effect at all to the EB team. It is not going to damage their will to work on their mod.

Indeed. One only has to take an overview of the official forums to realise (as CA will already have - as they hint at within their announcement and interviews/responses) that it is catering for a....... different audience, with somewhat....different expectations. EB2 will be, I have no doubt given what I have seen so far, a far, far greater gaming experience in terms of game mechanics, immersion and historical authenticity (to use CA's favoured term).

Actually it's the opposite since we may port and make an Eb version for R2:TW.
If it's portable enough and allows us to implement some necessary requirements.

I think our units can compete with those from R2TW and look good on the new engine.

Now on topic, we don't let it fail however it would be nice if more joined the fight.
It's a complete conversion of the game and we could use people who are willing to do repetitive work.

Not just experienced artists and so on.

Alright. But wouldn't that require the redoing of some aspects of the mod, namely scripting? And it's still not clear if the campaign map can be edited either in R2TW.

I wish I could help, but I have no modding skills, and I especially don't have time due to studies mainly.

Of course, that's what I mean by requirements. To port only the units would have no purpose.

Do you think it's different for us? We all have RL issues.

Porting Eb1 descriptions, porting some battlemap units to strat map characters, mapping, porting some .txt files to .xml and so on.

I don't doubt that you all have much more time in RL than me, (in fact, I think that normally I'm the one with too much time) but then another problem is that I might not be a too effective worker, as I'm usually carried by inspiration alone.

There are enough threads about this, specifically how the announcement of R2 will affect this mod and its development and future and we all agreed that just because another game is coming out that doesn't mean that we have to worry. The fans are still here and the devs too. This is a mod - it has nothing to do with the games that CA bring out.
Plus, there still is a year and a half until R2 comes out, plus give or take a couple of months until they stabilize its certainly to be there bugs with patches, then some now common DLCs for the "extras" that were suppose to be there in the first place and there you have it, that sums up to almost 2 years until you will have a complete and stable version of R2TW. Maybe we will be discussing Marian units for EB2 by then, after playing the first release which won't have them.

    I agree with Kihei

    Who's Kihei?

if you mean that rank thing on the bottom then that's not their "name"

There's a few of them. So which person are you referring to?

Is there a point of this thread? There's not a chance in hell EBII will die.

EBII will stand on its own regardless of RTWII. In fact, there is a small chance that RTWII will be so different in spirit, look and feel from the original concept that EBII will rise!

Please, please dont stop making this mod!

The graphics look very beautiful and I think the units looks better then those of R2TW, here we dont have clones like we have in R2TW!!!!

And historical accuracy, yes! I love you!
