Default Texas Judge Prepare For Civil War If Obama Relected

This is just... just... just read the article.

    http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/...230545603.html

"He's going to try to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the U.N., and what is going to happen when that happens?," Head asked.
"I'm thinking the worst. Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. And we're not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations, we're talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy.
"Now what's going to happen if we do that, if the public decides to do that? He's going to send in U.N. troops. I don't want 'em in Lubbock County. OK. So I'm going to stand in front of their armored personnel carrier and say 'you're not coming in here'.
"And the sheriff, I've already asked him, I said 'you gonna back me' he said, 'yeah, I'll back you'. Well, I don't want a bunch of rookies back there. I want trained, equipped, seasoned veteran officers to back me."

Just the STUPIDITY... THE SHEER AND UTTER STUPIDITY AND PARANOIA. WTF IS WITH TEXAS!? WHY IS IT SUCH A BREEDING GROUND FOR THESE KINDS OF PEOPLE!?

Not everyone from Texas is stupid. To presume so is illogical at best and small-minded at worst. But you generally have a fair point - there is unfortunately quite a bit of stupid coming from a number of states. Partisan ideology is not confined to any one region though....

My concern with this judge is his position as the county's Emergency Management Director. Add to that his following statement:

"I have some opinions what they're doing and what they're trying to do if they stay in power," he said. "And I have to prepare for that." [Assuming the "they" he describes as Democrats].

Why is he so ready to look towards civil war if Obama is elected? He has a very dangerous outlook on politics that really doesn't help to further any discussion. More of the "My way or the highway" BS we've heard from this kind in the past.

But it is telling that the people is Lubbock Texas are electing this kind of small-minded and easily influenced judge into power. That's the real problem.....

Im not presuming that Texans are stupid, im just saying that a lot of stupid people live in Texas. The politicians they elect tend to support that claim.

But Obama is hardly worth a civil war. I mean really? You're going to support a civil war because a center-left President was elected? Really?

Fair enough. I'd say that there are a lot of very intelligent folks that live in the more urban centers. But they tend to be drowned out by the rural rabble-rousers that don't look past ideological goals when voting.

Maybe that's where this debate should center - on the differences between Urban and Rural voters and their group perceptions. There's not much else to debate otherwise than this is a single instance of a very uninformed and unintelligent public servant pulling crass rhetoric out of his ass. It wouldn't be the first time that's happened....

I'd say center-right but absolutely not worth the pain of civil war. But American politics has become very strange this last decade. And the nuts seem to be lining up no matter who's in charge. Lunacy is the word of the day it would seem.... [shrug]

Where is there any proof that Obama is about to hand over sovereignty of the US to the UN? This is just mindless conspiracy theories coming from right-wing blogs. The sad truth about the Internet - any idiot can post his paranoia....

There's no proof of it, but like I said, in this hypothetical scenario where the US loses sovereignty to a foreign government, yeah, that's worth a fight.

People tend to debate on the stupid things rather than things that actually make a difference.

I should have that. Though one thing we have is that the campaigns are not as near as bad as they were back in the early 19th century.

and right there is the word that scares people. Proof.

Stupid people = stupid leaders, this is obviously a stupid judge elected by stupid people.

Someone had to vote for him. If the people of Texas don't want to be put in the same lot as this guy, they shouldn't elect him.

Some people are stupid? Stop the presses. You're still trying to paint with a brush exponentially wider than you should, though.

I liked the post more before it was edited, btw.

And you were trying to insinuate that this is just one person. Just trying to cover the spots you're missing.

And boo hoo, not my fault the edit tag isn't there.

If I'm trying to insinuate this is just one person, you're trying to insinuate it's everyone. That's why I pointed out the edit part. Not due to a lack of the tag, but due to the fact that you used an even wider brush in the edited post to call an entire state stupid because of the comments of one man in what is probably a low level court (think county or city, probably not even district).

It should also be noted that Luboock is not a very large county, and that most people barely research presidential elections, so how much would they research a judge?

Alright, not the entire populace of Texas is stupid, obviously. But you have to admit in this one case, this particular individual is, not to mention the people who have said they'd back him if such an outlandish scenario were to happen.

As PoleCat said, it's worrisome that the people of the town would elect him, and that he is representing them. I'm just saying he's not doing a good job of that if they're not like-minded. And then what? What's to say it's not spreading? This isn't the first time some loon had made some retarded comment about how there'll be civil war and the anti-Christ president will sign American over to Europe (as if such a thing could happen) and whatnot. These people should not be coddled or allowed to succeed, they should be ridiculed and used as example of what not to grow up to be. And yet we apparently grant them positions of power.

Based on some population statistics I found for Lubbock county, there were approximately 175,623 eligible voters in the county during 2010. If we take voter turnout (of 48% in the US) that quickly drops to 84,299 voters. Which lets go ahead and assume that 70% voted for this judge (I think you'll agree that's generous) bringing it to 59,009 voters. I'm not even going to factor in how many people give a about elections for a county judge (it's certainly less than 100%, though). So that comes out to .002298% of the population of Texas. I don't think it's a large percentage of people encouraging statements like this if the man had even said anything like this before he was elected. Most likely, he hadn't even come close to this in a public forum before the election.
