Well, from the get-go we can count out the Mongols and Tumurids, who were not seen with any provinces on the Campaign Map screens. In addition to that, the Aztecs and rumoured 'Maya's, for obvious playability reasons.

So that's 21-4=17. Meaning any faction but those mentioned above, I'm guessing.

whats with the development, why would they put factions in without making them playable? it just makes ppl want to play them more.

    Whoops, thanks mate.

Well, non-playable factions have always existed in Total War... I can understand why the Aztecs wouldn't be playable (I doubt they're tech tree will enable them to, say, reach Europe). I would, though, like to play as Genghis and storm Europe with the Golden Horde. But I'm guessing they'll be like the Slavs -- really non-playable due to appearing on the Campaign Map on a certain turn or w/e.

I wholeheartedly agree, ditch the NP factions bit - make 'em playable. (specifically Tumurids and Mongols).

well in bi there was a mod realeased that sped up time in-game to a point where the slavs did emerge and then made it so you played them, I was hoping something like that would have been implemented but ya. I'll look up the name now in case you wanna play it in bi

Edit: ok it was a mod called rebel commander, and im pretty sure that other mods implement that as well

    QUESTION: Who are those factions?

Short Answer : England, France, Scotland, Holy Roman Empire, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Milan, Venice, Papal States, Sicily, Poland, Russia, Hungary, Byzantium, The Turks, Egypt, The Moors, The Mongols, The Tumurids, The Aztecs.

Long Answer : Although the above answer was given by Bob Smith in this interview on IGN: pc.ign.com/articles/682/682437p2.html information on totalwar.com states that the Mayans will also be included in the game. Whether this means a raise of the number of factions or whether some factions have been replaced is not known yet.

    Hope that helped the OP!

    Cheers! Ituralde
