So, what is your latest great musical discovery? be it a band, a singer, a genre or anything else to do with music that you have just found out about and can't get enough of.

For me it would be Sigur Ros, an Icelandic, well, um, experimental band, they have to be heard to really understand what the're like. They have a unique and beautiful sound, that I really can't compare to anything.

You can read about them here
And listen to them here (although I think you need to sing up to listen to them, and even then it's only 30 seconds).

Tool. Never heard them until about a year ago, now they are one of my favorite bands.

Corey Taylor and Stone Sour. I liked Stone Sour before, but I had no idea that Corey Taylor (Slipknot #8) was the lead singer for Stone Sour too. So, knowing this I have been listening to nothing but Stone Sour for about a month, since I figured out how diverse a voice Corey Taylor can muster. I like his mix of metal and soft rock. Their song Don't Bother and their new single Through Glass are two of my favorite songs. They aren't my favorite, because I don't have any, but they rank in my top 10 at least. So, I would rank Corey Taylor as my latest n greatest musical discovery

edit: and yes, tool is one of the best bands of all time

you like tool? I mean, I love them too (my favorite band) but they're totally against your political/religious views (from what I've gathered here anyways). so I'm a bit surprised.

ugh, not them again. Never listened to their music, but my dad's reading a biography on them called "Well-Respected Men". Its just, what the bloody hell? Think about a better title, you fruity authors. Annoys me every time i see it!

Ah, my latest 'n' greatest would have to be either Hopesfall or Fuel. Yes, I knew Fuel was around for awhile, but I just recently really started getting into them.

I love the kinks!!!! "you really got me" has an awesome guitar solo, and "Lola" is just one of the coolest songs ever...even if it is about a cross-dresser.

but my lateset discovery would have to be the musical genious that is Jethro Tull

most classisc rock fans should know of "Aqualung" or "Locamotive Breath", and critics automatically say that they are not a good band because Ian Anderson plays the flute.

These songs are just the tip of the iceberg and if you dont think that they make the flute sound cool then you need help.

I challenge you to listen to the 45 minute long masterpiece known as "Thick as a Brick" and tell me that you still dont like the flute. (yes it is one song that takes up the entire album)

or the heavily blues influenced "A New Day Yesterday"(which happens to be one of my favorites)

then there are those incredibly heavy songs that never really got the airplay that they deserved such as: "Cross-eyed Mary" or "Hymn 43"

also you have the acoustic masterpieces like "Wond'ring Aloud", "Mother Goose" and a marvellous rendition of Bach's "Bouree".

then there are the later songs that didnt recieve the praise or attention they deserved such as "Heavy Horses", "Minstrel in the Gallery", and "Too Old to Rock and Roll to Young to Die"

and finally, that 70's skating rink classic..."Bungle in the Jungle" (not one of my favorites)

haha i can see many reasons why critics give "locomotive breath" bad reputation
    however, i really like aqualung.

in 2004 I discovered OutKast. I wasn't really into music, and I had no cd's. I only listened to the radio some times. When I heard Hey Ya! I wanted to know more about OutKast. I discovered the Dungeon Family about 6 months later.

    Noisecore/terrorcore.

Thats probably the sickest most ****ed up "music" you've ever heard in your life. I mean I can understand people liking normal speedcore but noisecore/terrorcore is just, wel noise and terror to your ears.
