    Default Chrome gone wild

During the last month, my chrome browser started to randomly blacked the screen(of browser) and give me video ads. If i leave chrome untouched for a couple of hours it turns whiteish and lags(no response) and i have to close all tabs and restart chrome. Sometimes pages wont load unless i change into a different page and then go back.

    What happened?

You got virused or you have a bad upgrade. Have you run any malware checks? If so, what? What version of Chrome are you on. Does this happen with any other browser?

    Run Malwarebytes full scan.
    Uninstall Chrome.
Reinstall Chrome and see if that helped.

Moreover if your chrome becomes non-responsive (as you pointed out) then most likely you have an incompatible plugin installed, usually the culprit is adobe's flash player plugin.

I had a problem with the adobe flash player for chrome yesterday and it was doing similar things that the OP is describing, un-installing and re-installing chrome seemed to fix it though.

AVG is decent enough for standard use. But it really depends on what you're doing with your system. Leave as it stands but definitely look for viruses using Bolkonsky's suggestion. Just because you have AV software installed doesn't mean that it can't be circumvented. Good luck!

Try using Windows Security Essentials, in my experience its better than AVG (which I used to use).

He's being paranoid. Although keep only one because they consume system resources especially when live protection is "on".

And there's an option to save\export your bookmarks into an HTML page which later on can be imported. Press Ctrl+Shift+O to open the bookmark manager, click on organize and then select the export option and then later on select the import option and select the saved HTML doc.
