Well, the Netherlands have their share of castles, alot of them very well preserved:
(Sorry for the image sizes, but I think in a thread like this images are allowed to be large )
The castle of Heeswijk:
Castle Ammersoyen:
Castle of Duurstede:
Château Neercanne
Castle Terworm
Muiderslot:
And many, many more
If anyone is interested I can post a couple more.. I believe there are some nice ones I forgot.
Edit: How could I forget this one: Castle de Haar, the largest and maybe most beautiful castle of the Netherlands.
And we knew how to defend our cities aswell:
Old Heusden:

It would be neat to visit Holland, but the only time I've ever been out of country is when I visited my Uncle in France.

Gotta add my favorite, I don't know if you can class it as a Castle as its really an Abbey but has an Huge Gatehouse with a wall surrounding it. I basically grew up here as I went nearly every Sunday with my dad since as long as I can remember, I must go back I haven't been for ages, In the Abbey itself is doorway with no door with a small spiral staircase leading down into a small windowless room, I always use to go down there when I was a kid, it wasn't long ago that I found out that when the Victorians were doing restoration or something they found this doorway bricked up and the bones and robes of a Monk down there, back when the Abbey was in use they bricked up a Monk in there for practicing the Black Arts. Man if I knew that when I was a kid I wouldn't of gone down there lol.
The Huge Gatehouse.
