I was just wondering if this forum influences CA's ideas in any way.

of course. CA even has their own representatives here, such as Jack Lusted and Craig.

ohh. thats great. happy to hear CA cares so much about there community
yea, the general feedback over the years. but i doubt they re able to implement several new big ideas for the upcoming Rome II
the concept is already there, now in the following months they re just working on its execution
They do listen to the community alot but time is ticking so yeah.

No I dont think they do...if anyone can name something am all ears...![]()
Well, im pretty sure people here asked, and asked, and asked for the Limited Edition "goodies" to be released as DLC, CA obliged.
Loads asked here for more diversity in S2TW Campaign, few weeks later we got Ikko Ikki clan pack!
Then you have the "Features you want to see in Total War", started by CA themselves quite a long time ago, so maybe some of those ideas there will be implemented in someway into R2TW - Blood was requested a lot, CA obliged. Increase to units on battlefield/return to Kingdoms Style reinforcements was asked for a lot as well, CA obliged.
As for modding, they released TEd (not what people may have wanted, but surely a step in the right direction), and announced the modding summit, so again people here asked (demanded) for something and CA have obliged.
I suppose you could then also argue that since its release, RTW fans have bemoaned the lack of diversity and lack of fleshing out applied to barbarian factions - something CA has said it has addressed for R2TW - along with the Greeks (another one RTW fans moaned about, not having individual city states).
Theres just a few, obviously you could argue that CA intended to do these things anyway, or its coincidence, but the point that all these issues have been raised here, majority on threads that CA reps post in, and have then found there way into the games would surely suggest that in someway they do infact get ideas from this forum!![]()
They heard us for the 40 vs 40 units in FOTs and Shogun II. But not for naval battles with 10 vs 10 ships which is too small. They listen to us but sometimes things are very long to change whereas that would be easy to change: ladders in ETW and NTW, proper bearskin for Imperial guard grenadiers in NTW, locked maps or units in custom battle, hardcoded things which annoy modders etc.

These forums can be used as marketing tools to find out what the players want from the series. Without the players, the Total War series would be nothing, so obviously community is the most important thing.
However it must be within limits. The company itself is making a lot of the ideas and suggestions, and community input can go only so far. The development of large systems like a Total War game requires a thorough plan before actual execution begins, and so feedback and ideas now can only go so far if they seem absolutely feasible to be implemented.
I'm going to assume that if any ideas are collected at this point they would go more towards research for the following TW game after Rome 2, and not Rome 2 itself.
Not really. I think their next game is all planned and half made before they even make the first announcements.
I dout it people like to think they do but they come here to see where the peoples head are at for the game. I mean all people talk about is Historical accuracy an all that. Game wise I'm sure they have plenty of good ideas of there own.

They probably listen but don't always consider the community in their decisions.
they are here and they are aware of most of this community's wants but i dunno if they implement some the stuff discussed here but i think they take some if not all into account since we (TWC), i believe, are the major buyers of the series....![]()

Oh, come now. You guys are much too cynical. Before ETW came out Jack Lusted and others would comment on discussions, mostly on units or ships.
There is a thread at the .org where someone from CA commented on the research on Roman ships a week or so ago.
They mostly read the threads. If there are fabulous ideas in them perhaps they discuss them at meeting. I am sure they take notes anyway. It is more than just Jack and Craig who look too.
Comments are often PR and I would guess comments have to be reviewed before they can post but they see what we are talking about, if nothing else.
The good, the bad, and the ugly.
With all theand moaning about just everything about the game, not to mention the bickering between members themselves, why would they...
after all the problem is that just on my opinion their participation in threads is very low even they read a lot of them. mostly their answers are kept generally or have a marketing bias. would wish myself that they really care more visible for the community not only here but also on totalwar.com
