    Default Must play mod?

    Hello folks,

after a long time without playing any Total War game (just "finished" Skyrim and threw D3 in the corner), I want to go back to Total War Shogun 2.
Playing it the first time, there were many things that I didn't really like and I had really good experiences with TW:Rome mods.

So now I'm wondering which mod would give me sort of an overhaul of the main game like Rome: Total Realism did for TW:Rome.
I still like to play the main campaign without Fall of the Samurai.

So which mod do you recommend? Or should I rather play Vanilla instead, maybe with Fall of the Samurai installed?

As much as I name Darthmod here as the mandatory jack of all trades, Sekigahara Campaign is definitely worth trying for complete overhaul for Sengoku experience. TROM3 is not bad either too.

We'll aim to have the Seki be it. Make Shogun 2 synonymous with it. Make people associate that the new clans introduced are more awesome than the vanilla 1545 clans.

Oh and historically correct pink horos and gynormous golden horos. All historically correct.

(Its clickable by the way....An S2 overhaul mod.)

Seriously. Click it. Its the only overhaul mod that's overhauling enough to bring out NEW clans

If you have FOTS, the foreign invasion or steampunk/samurai mods are very interesting.
    My mods
-Mod Leader for the Wheel Of Time This is not the beginning, but it is a beginning
-Mod Leader for Shogun 2: Foreign Invasion if you want a mod with alot of units this is for you, not only is there the 40 units CA made theres planned to be atleast 177 NEW units when its done.
-Modder in the World War I and Shogun II project. The only full scale mod for FOTS and it plays nothing like FOTS. FOTS may have Gatling guns, WW1&S2 has tekidanto samurai, SNLF, MGs, kisho snipers, assault infantry(shotguns) just to name a few.

Sekigahara campaign is one of the greatest, most ambitious mods released for Shogun 2. It has hundreds of new creations for the campaign and it's only in the v0.9 stage of release.

Darthmod is a huge improvement mod for the campaigns for Shogun 2 and the DLC. It's the best mod there is out there if you seek to play the regular campaigns and makes the battles much better and the campaign map a bit harder but also more fun.

First battle with darthmod on FOTS, I sniped all the enemy units with my sharpshooters (as Jozai). One volley at maximum range killing 24 men.

Maybe they are OP, but it was not a great first experience.

Have you tried any other mod? Vanilla FoTS is even worse, and other mods don't seem to improve the AI as well. Atleast Darthmod improves the overall AI by quite a bit, I've really been surpised by how smart it can be in certain situations. It also add many fixes like bow army stacks, and gun boat spam in FoTS etc. but there will always be some flaws that are left over. The point is that it isn't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better.

TRoM3 and/or Sekigahara. Both significantly address campaign play as far as historical concerns go, but cover different periods.

Im gonna have to give my vote to Sekigahara. I only played it once, quite awhile ago (As I don't exactly own the Sengoku campaign...) but even then it was by far the most interesting mod.

Darthmod is good too, if you'd rather keep with a mostly-Vanilla feel.

I tried the Sekigahara but it was just meh, it's not really more than a standard campaign with differntly named units and some other clans. I don't really find it that great, it was not bad, that's not what I'm saying, but it isn't that great either.

Thats the point of the mod. To cater to us folks who hunger for more famous Sengoku Jidai characters that never made it since CA chose 1545 as a starting period.....not to mention 2 clan packs so you can never tire from playing in the same position over and over again like in the 1545 clans.

But dont worry, 1.0 will introduce this new units...(well there are already new not to mention the taisho is yari bearing already.)

Like I said, it's not something I said to offend you Sekigahara guys, I know you're all co-creators of it, but the Sekigahara mod adds a new campaign with new units, which is nice, and a change from the regular game. But I prefer Darthmod on the vanilla campaign becauce instead of changing the campaign, it overall improves it. I did like the Sekigahare mod, I just chose the wrong clan to start with I guess.
