Default Thank goodness for you guys!

I just wanted to give a huge thank you to all the amazingly talented dedicated people that contributed to this mod. You guys deserve it! This mod is the reason i am not going to buy rome 2. They want to limit modding so they can make more money, i say no thanks. I'll stick to the mod that was made for a now very dated game that puts their new games to shame. Again, thank you so much guys!

And what would you suggest they do? Stay on the Rome engine forever?

Thats true, the Med2 AI has been pushed to the limit already hasnt it?

Anyway, its is quite a shame that the ability to mod the game has been declining with each next game, or so i have read(never have player any games after M2 myself)

The same for me. SS 6.4 with my own minimod is all I need

For me, Europa Barbarorum is the reason I'm not going to buy Rome II. Well, that and something about my computer not being able to run even its main menu but that's not the point sarcasm.

I don't think MTW2 has been pushed to the limits yet actually. Look at some of the Rage of the Gods (CoW) units like Pegasai and Griffons or the wizards etc. Also some mods are really pushing campaign map to the limits as well. Major things Shogun 2 has that MTW2 engine can't deliver are 3D map, naval battles, tech tree, ninjas, and railroads. Most other agents or effects of Shogun 2 MTW2 can mimic or outright do.

Personally I don't have a preference for Shogun 2 map over MTW2, I usually auto resolve naval battles unless having fast ships and outnumbered, I don't really like the tech tree as MTW2 buildings basically functioned similarly, don't really like the ninjas as I find them OP along with Shogun 2 priests, and don't have FotS so am not sure about railroads.

Hey, I love SS, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't buy Rome 2.

Like the people above, SS is certainly a great mod, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give Rome 2 a try.

I will stick to MTW2, with SS and to STW2 but I will buy RTW2 like many others.

I will probably buy Rome II. The medieval and Roman eras are my favourites.

    Never play a unmodable game!

How long did you guys play the vanilla version?
Compare that with "How long did you play TW2 mods?"

Mods are what makes games interesting!

Aye, SS and it's many, many customizations and submods are simply wonderful. The vanilla M2TW is actually pretty boring, since it's so straightforward and simple. Mods like BGR actually limit the players ability to steamroll and there's simply so many little tweaks here and there that the game is much, much more fun to play

There's of course many other wonderful mods, like Europa Barbarorum for RTW (can't wait for EBII tho... M2TW engine has so many small but important upgrades to the features available!) or Third Age: Total War for Med 2. The fact that the newer games are more difficult to mod is IMO just sad, since the one thing I've always liked about Total War games is that they're so easily moddable (which leads to so many interesting and cunning mods we have)

actually, when you think about it...
all standard issued TW games sucked balls before mods (apart from Rome and its predecessors perhaps).
medieval 2 was quite shallow, as mods like SS clearly show.
ETW was never really finished, and the patches broke as much as they fixed
napoleon was a way over-priced DLC for ETW with a blue camera filter
Shogun 2 is pretty much nothing without it's DLC's, which all together nearly cost the same as the game itself.
I'm not sure about buying Rome II, since if it were to follow CA history, it'll probably be released way too early to make it decently playable and shallow untill the first 3 DLC's are released
