Default Austrian far-right party posts Nazi-like anti-semetic cartoon on facebook

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-19324613
A far-right Austrian politician has caused anger after posting a cartoon on Facebook, likened to anti-Semitic Nazi propaganda.

Heinz-Christian Strache posted a caricature of a banker with a hooked nose, wearing Star of David cufflinks.

Austrian Jewish leader Oskar Deutsch likened it to images used by the Nazis in the 1930s.

Mr Strache, who leads the Freedom Party, has denied he was being anti-Semitic.

The cartoon was posted on Saturday, accompanied by a comment from Mr Strache decrying "EU banking speculators" for taking tax money from Austrians.

    Star of David
On Sunday Mr Strache posted a second version, labelled in English. The Star of David emblems had been removed from the banker's cufflinks and the shape of his nose had also been changed.

Both images show another figure labelled "The Government" pouring a drink for the banker, while a third, poorly clothed and thin figure labelled "The People", sits opposite the banker with a bone on his plate.

Jewish leader Oskar Deutsch (L) likened the cartoon to Nazi anti-Semitic propaganda
"It is not a coincidence that a caricature of Jews, similar to the ones in 'Der Stuermer' in the 1930s and 1940s, appeared on the Facebook page of Freedom Party leader Mr Strache," Mr Deutsch said, referring to a newspaper published by the Nazis.

Austrian politicians from both centre-left and conservative parties have condemned the cartoon.

The conservative People's Party called on the Freedom Party (FPO) to address "the incendiary and discriminating tones within the party itself".

A lawyer in Vienna has also said he will sue the FPO for holocaust denial, which is illegal in Austria.

Mr Strache and the FPO have frequently faced accusations of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.

On Sunday Mr Strache responded to the backlash with a further comment on Facebook saying he did not tolerate anti-Semitism and insisted that he was highlighting his scorn for "the caste of greedy bankers".
It's disgusting that such a cartoon would appear from any party in the world, let alone one from a nation such as Austria.

I don't know why you'd release this cartoon then deny it was antisemitic. Why are fascists so stupid? Are they fascists because they are stupid, or the other way around?

I'm quite sure people who are Nazis are so because they are stupid, since I can't imagine Nazism causing stupidity which didn't already exist.

Pretty sad this thread is already itself slipping into anti-semitism or islamophobia...

I don't understand the logic behind anti semitism. How is this religion responsible for poverty again? That seems to be what every far right movement for the last two centuries has believed.

I don't know if the party has racist views or not but I got a question,

Isn't it true that a lot of powerful bankers are Jewish, and their market games can indeed make governments bow and people starve?

I repeat that I have no idea what the party stands for but this cartoon is in no way racist or anti-semetic.

This reminds me how our "anti-racist" parties react. Just using every little thing turning it into a huge non-story just by adding a powerful emotional title on it. . . .

You know if the banker had a Christian Cross instead of the David stars on his clothes, noone would say anything right?

The most famous ones are, and they are only that famous because of anti-semitists despite being a minority, and I have no idea how their ancestry is relevant at all.

Yeah, but I mean, this cartoon just depicts a reality, I don't get why this picture leads some people to think that it means "burn all the jews in furnaces"

Because the same propaganda led to Nazi Germany.

You really think that something like that with the Jews in particular has any chance to happen again, ever?

    . . . .

How? In Europe? In the Americas? In Asia? Where? How?

Explain to me the strategy a European nation will employ to repeat ww2 and try to eliminate the Jews.

I just can't think of a possible way any state can do that in our days.

I wonder if they would be upset to know they have something in common with much of the Islamic worlds press?

I think some are simply unsettled by the fact that the cartoon has similarities with Nazi anti-Jewish propaganda of the 1930's.

The US economic and banking elite is almost all Jew.

We have to keep more from hatching or they will feed all of our gold to their hatchlings.

Well maybe if Obama spent less time dicking around on the basketball court with average voters, and more time hunting down their main nest, we wouldn't be in this situation.

Just to state some facts (general laughter ensues):

Originally the banking trade was invented by people among the Jewish culture, as they (being the ones that made "jewellery") where practically the only ones who had the precious metals and an understanding of physics and trade required to set up such a profitable business.
It may not have been a malevolent trade to start with (neither was it strictly Jewish), but over time rich overal Jewish bankers mixed with relentless European elites, eventually leading to the birth of a movement that bears the name Zionism today.
This movement, being born from Machiavellian origins, understood the importance of subterfuge in order to hide their relentless abuse of the lower classes, thus naturally they subverted their Jewish and European elitist origins alike to act as a screen to hide their impunity behind.

Logically outrage over the ever increasing injustice was directed at these facades, and led to revolutionism and what today we might call "anti-semitism" (This takes place at a time when the term Zionism did not yet exist, but the "movement", which was not yet in any way of singular purpose, was well on it's way to replace most European powerbases).
After a long period of intermarriage, dealmaking and ruthless shadow wars, the Napoleonic wars reveal a more united banking elite that continued the strategies used against the French revolution for the next hundred years.

With the advent of modern communication and general education though, the stakes increased tenfold.
Now the old adage of "divide and conquer" was turning into "divide and keep passive".

Between the first and second world wars a new variant of an old strategy emerged, it was no longer enough to set nations against each other to fill up the power vacuum that followed, now ideas, ideals and deepest motivations had to be manipulated in order to keep the lower classes in check.
The second world war (and what followed) was orchestrated to facilitate just such a change of thinking, to ingrain a new paradigm into the human psyche.
Money and terror where the new watchwords, and still are today...

Either the disparate ruling classes drag us deeper into the feudal age we never fully came out of, we descend into a dark age of destruction, or we emerge bloodied into an age of endless enlightenment.
"The only question that remained was whether the founders knew the final result of their creation, or if they themselves where the victims of a misunderstanding.
In the latter case it was the duty of any thinking human, to press himself into the front of this depraved movement, to perhaps still prevent the extreme, in the former case the founders of this peoples disease must have been true devils; for only in the brain of a monster - not of a human - could the plan for an organisation take meaningfull form, whose purpose must lead toward the end result of a collapse of human culture and thus to the desolation of the world.
In this case only battle remained as a means of final delivery, battle with any weapons that the human mind, intellect and will are able to comprehend, regardless, of whom fate would gift with it's blessing."

Sue for holocaust denial? Unless they are referencing to something other than the cartoon, there is no basis.
