Blasphemy laws are themselves debunked as the book is a pedophiles fairy tale.
How can this poor girl from the slums of Pakistan be facing the DEATH PENALTY.
When cops saved her from a lynch mob by taking her down to the station for her own protection they realized she did not burn the Koran.Still she faces the death penalty as some fundamentalist accused her.
She is handicapped leave her alone.
Let the world see this barbaric behaviour............................

    Yes, and now it's three!

On topic, very unfortunate situation for the little girl and her family. Hope cooler heads prevail and they somehow manage to reform these primitive laws.

Without any lawmakers being murdered of course.

Is being accused of blasphemy or trying to reform blasphemy laws an instant death sentence or something?

Trying to reform blasphemy laws is a blasphemy in Pakistan

Many other Christian families have fled the neighbourhood after unrest erupted. Reports say that police arrested her under pressure from the large crowd.

It is thought that the girl has Down's syndrome, which is a congenital condition that causes various degrees of learning difficulties and certain physical abnormalities
"This infuriated some local people and a large crowd gathered to demand action against her. The police were initially reluctant to arrest her, but they came under a lot of pressure from a very large crowd who were threatening to burn down Christian homes."
Lovely place to live.If a christian book was burned would these laws call for the death penalty. These laws are a crime against humanity..
I have often seen people killed for petty things in Pakistan and I am shocked at how religious people adore the death penalty and have no respect for life in Pakistan.

The theological difference between burning the Bible and the Koran is that one is taken as being Man's word while the other is taken as the word of God, respectively.

So? Is God so weak he needs people to kill for him? I always find that puzzling.

I'd adopt her if it were at all possible. No way to cleanse that place, just lock the doors to the asylum. Sad, but there is no way to help them.

The one we did invade isn't much better, trust me.

I saw a mentally handicapped grown man locked in a mud hut with only a single small window. There was a young boy locked in there with him, also handicapped. It was over 120 degrees outside. The village elder told our patrol leader that's where they kept the "damaged" members of the village.

To be fair, you see the same kind of behaviour among some people in developed countries, who lock children who clearly have psychological problems away. Thankfully we have enough laws in place and the willingness to enact them to punish them and take the children away.

And it's also far from culturally accepted. Nor is it a communal practice.

The problem is that we're talking about a society that operates largely along tribal, pre-industrial lines. Families having huge power over their household, and being very introverted and authoritarian. So you get cases like the one you mentioned and the police is largely powerless to intervene because it'd be infringing on what those people consider to be their rights.
