Default The picture preview (Icon) is not showing

As I mentioned in another thread I migrated to a 64bit system. After setting up M2TW again I wanted to start modding but found that none of the TGA files had a preview as they used to have. Same with TEXTURE format, even DDS. BMP and JPEG show just fine.
I got MWThumb and used the DLL file from that page after inital failure with only MWThumb. I ma pretty sure it's just a small setting somewhere, but extensive search in the most likely places did not give results. There used to be a 'preview' icon on top of the picture folder for the TGA (working) but that disappeared after I associated the format with GIMP.
It's a real pain in the neck if you have to open each file (like loading screens) if you can't remember the name of the one with the little soldier getting beheaded.

    Any thoughts?

Edit: looking at the image on the download page I don't have the ability to disable the default viewer nor the ability to change the size of the icon. Messed up installation of the program?

Edit2: installing it as 'XP version' instead of 'Vista version' gives me that interface, but no thumbnails.

Does it have a .cfg or a .ini file you can change?

Maybe. Since this program looks like it was designed for XP and adapted to Vista then UAC may be an issue. Can you run it in compatibility mode and see if that clears up your problem?

Also, have you installed Windows Live? I think that may be where to look. When I moved to Win7 I noticed the same problem with thumbnails with my photo albums. But I don't work with those files like you do and I will not allow MS to force a EULA on me (as Win Live seems to want to do). Good luck!

Nope. What baffles me is the fact that it all worked like a charm on my 32 bit machine. It there any other way to display DDS and TGA files as thumbnails in the folder view?

Edit: I re-installed with 'run as administrator' but no change.

Double post but give me a break - just woke up.

Gigantus - Go to Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Folder Options -> Advanced settings and make sure the option [Always show icons, never thumbnails] is turned off. Does that help?

The 'show thumbnails' option was the first thing I checked, and I don't have Windows Live (at least not to my knowledge). I didn't manage to fix the use of MWThumb, but I found a worthy replacement: SageThumbs works like a charm.

Now I am going to download the ghostscript thingy they mention to display PDF thumbnails and then I should be good.

If I could find now the site where that HTML Preview gadget was then I'll be as happy as a pig in mud.

    Just an update:
Installing Adobe's reader enabled the thumbnails for PDF files.
And I eventually found the site for the HTML previewer
