Hey everyone, I was just wondering would my computer be able to play Total War Rome 2? It plays Shogun 2 Total War on ultra, everything ticked and no lag. Also to anyone reading this, with my specs or similar will know if they can play it

Hey everyone, I was wonder if i would probobly be able to play Total War Rome 2. I can play Shogun 2 on ultra, everything ticked with no lag. Also im hoping this will help anyone with similar specs

Play Rome II, yes. On ultra.... Base on few screens that we have right now, not sure. Probably wont though.

System specs have not been released. But if you play shogun2 on ultra I think you will be fine.

ok cool, although there is the occasional frame rate issue but im guessing its because of my darthmod. also im not in any part of the military. Semper Fidelis means always faithful in latin. it was there a long time before america was even founded. i think that the reason empire and shogun 2 lag so much for weird reasons even if you have a nice rig is because the engine is not set to be absolutly compatible. somone told me it was meant to be for a single core processor. so it will work with duel or quad cores, it just wont work as smoothly as it should. (i think)

Sweet and simple for you maybe but we still have to buy a pc with your configuration and install the same OS and drivers then go to CA headquarters and wait for at least the beta to benchmark it...

Anyway Im sure youll be able to play if you run S2 smoothly, they are even hoping for the same minimum requirements (not promising them tho), the only thing you cant know for about more then a year is on what details you will be able to play

yeah if you want it to look like washed out pastels and a bad water painting instead of empires solid look. I'm looking at you napoleon. You ran better, but you sure as heck looked a whole lot less real. Same with you shogun2. You both look like a step backwards graphically.

Considering the game's in pre-alpha, I'm gonna go with "I have no idea."

Rome 2 gonna be High End hardware hunger.... on ultra settings of course with super huge unit size (probablys 300 men per one card) and you will see around 20-30k troops engaging on battlefield.

see how CA develop the game in the past

Good PC Pentium 2 and GeForce TNT can play Shogun without problems but when Medieval come out, Pentium 2 start to get problem on highest settings

Good PC Pentium 4 and GeForce 3-4 can play Medieval without problems but when Rome come out, Pentium 4 can't run the game on max settings

Good PC Core 2 Duo and GeForce 5-6 can play Rome without problems but when Empire is out yet again, Core 2 Duo can't play the game on ultra settings

Good PC i7 first gen and GeForce 8 can play Empire without problems (also Napoleon too) but when Shogun 2 out, i7 and GeForce 8 still had a bit stagger on max settings

Good PC i7 second gen ( i7 2600k example ) and GeForce 300-500 or AMD 67xx-79xx ( your card ) can push the game to max settings without problems or lag

So now? Rome 2? of course... current Core i7 or even Ivy maybe or maybe not play Rome 2 at max settings, your AMD 6800 too can't get max settings on Rome 2

For low and mid settings, its will be playable with the unit size around mid without lag.

This is my opinion Rome 2 gonna need 2013 or 2014 hardware to make it playable on ultra thingy.

I can't remember, but I think they're rebuilding the engine for Rome 2. If this is the case, then we won't know the specifications for quite some time. Remember, the stuff they showed were scripted events so we won't really know the CPU-intensive aspects of it all.

That being said, we might not need to upgrade at all. If they are building a new engine, we can only hope that they finally incorporate true multi-threading for users with more than 2 cores. My money is that we shouldn't be too worried about our machines running Rome 2 and your machine certainly isn't a pushover. From the looks of it, you have dual 6870s in crossfire, so you should be fine.

I know I intend to grab a second 7870 for my system. Gotta have Rome 2 in all its splendor!

Anyway, I read an interview (can't remember which one, I read so many...) where the developer said one of their policies is to ensure that if you can play Shogun 2, you will be able to play Rome 2. He did not say specifically at what settings (how could he know yet?) but suffice to say, they want to keep their playerbase from Shogun 2 without forcing them to buy a new computer. I think that's a nice gesture, given Total War's historical hikes in system requirements

The game is a year and a half from release, how do we really know?

Common sense indicates that if you can generally run Shogun 2 with few problems, then you`ll probably be able to run RTW2 on minimum settings at worse and full settings at best.

I hope you're not complaining about the graphical options being scaleable from low-end to high-end. Cause that's just great, look at Starcraft 2 for example. They have managed to do that, so why wouldn't CA be able to do that as well?.

We can only speculate what is going to be required in order to max it - as we don't know how the game is going to look like and also(big reason) how many soldiers we will be able to have. If they're going to increase army sizes to be able to field 10.000 men(this isn't as unlikely as some would think), and you run it on full ultra, i think you're looking at next-gen graphicscards and CPU's if you want a smooth experience.

Hey whats up, im getting five hundred dollars this winter and im going to invest some of it, or all of it into either a graphics card, or a cpu. although i do have an i5, im kind of wondering what an i7 will do with rome 2. although ive heard that a graphics card is far more important for gaming, also ive also heard that almost no games really need the i7 for good quality.
I really just needed some oppinions.
Here is my DXDiag, just incase my processor is fine, but my graphics could use a change. i can also play shogun 2 on ultra with no lag.

you wont need an i7. Get a good graphic card. But you shuld wait and save your money, really. It isn't out in 1.5 years. There will be new cards that are better then they are now. So by a new one when the game comes out.
But then again it's only if you feel like you must play the game on highest option possible, or else the game will suck. If you can run shogun you can run this. So if you can max out shogun2 I'm not sure you can max it. But it will be high. I would have just saved the money and go on vacation to visit Rome instead. It isn't worth it in my opinion.

But since it's your cash, do what makes you happy Play a game on ultra with a new card or play it on high with the one you have. Something like that. Who knows, it's a long time until release .

I think any i7 processor with great GTX 670 you'll be able to play Rome 2 at max,but we will see,maybe I am wrong
