    Default Character traits

The one most frustrating aspect of this expansion to me, is that no matter what I do, my family members always get negative traits, and become the worst financial managers ever. 99% of the time, my settlements are better off without a governer then any character I have.
Why is this? I never had this problem with non-bi?

Try downloading player1 bugfixers. within the bugfixer you'll see his modifactions on character traits. this may help with getting inconsistent traits unles of course you are a poor financial manager

Get used to it. Unless you mod the game this is supposed to model the moral decay of your faction. There are ways to temporarily revers this of course. Have not yet figure out how to do this in BI but in original certain relgions (such as Jupiter worship) an emphasis on farming and mining for an economic base as opposed to trade, and not enslaving or exterminating captured cities did the trick. Of course I would rather have the moral decay, it is inevitable even if you reverse it for a time by doing the right things. Is most common if your faction is large.

Do notice, though, that religion is a huge factor. Seems to me that Catholic Christianity actually slows certain traits from forming the most (such as corruption) in exchange for others (such as cowardice.) Eastern Orthodox Christianity is definately the most trader-firendly religion in game. I distiguish the two by faction that builds church. Have not yet identified traits of Arian Christianity yet... Should note that actually the same religion affects different factions differently, for example both Franks and WRe are Catholic Christian but they are drastically different versions, and a WRE church will ahve adifferent effect on Frank characters than WRE ones.

Religion, empire size, and trade are definately biggest factors in moral decay. Note some faction have a sort of counterbalanced moral decay where time makes characters more authoritarian as well, which is a blessing and a curse, in original this was Partharia if provided with Secret Police Hq or Network over long period of time, in BI the WRE gets this trend, and carnifexes will start to spring up if faction is Christian.
