Another unspecified error on startup

Hello all,
I purchased medieval 2 gold a few days ago and have installed it and fully uninstalled it several times times with and without kingdoms and also I tried patching kingdoms to 1.5 but still the same issue although i have admin privelages i still tried run as admin but still its the unspecified error on startup, (although Kingdoms doesn't give the above error it just shows an empty error box and closes

Factory shop, I doubt they'll accept returns its not a game shop

New, but i was getting errors on a few of the installations like cylic redundancy.

Check the discs for scratches, dirt, fingerprints, food, anything foreign.

Dvds are immaculate but tomorrow I could try installing it on another pc as I think it could be my dvd drive but would that invalidate my serial?

No, it won't. Just enter 1111-1111-1111-1111 and be done. You don't need the good one but for multiplayer.

I don't think there is anything else to try in the meantime.

If it installs and plays on another computer, possibly reader. If not, I'd start thinking it's a copy with new shrinkwrap and return it for a refund.

ok a bit strange I got it working on my pc through tv and vga but it wont with hdmi which is what my setup is, could i fix this or do i need to by a vga cable?
