I was playing as Poland and was taking a city from the HRE (Wroclaw). Aside from the garrison, there were several units of spearmen, men at arms etc. supporting as a group, then another half stack with a general, and some units that were *supposed* to be on crusade, but they just stood near the city while I was besieging it (don't know if that's a bug). Anyway, after I took the walls and entered the city, the infantry entered the city easily from a side gate (didn't have any units guarding that side), and I sent some of my troops to fight them off.
Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the city of my besieging force, the general arrives. Besides a catapult, he didn't have anything that could have possibly obstructed entrance to the city. He just stood there on the opposite side of the city, doing jack squat.I didn't have any infantry guarding the walls or anything like that. Despite the side gate which was currently open due to the enemy infantry, they stood just waiting for something to happen. I assume they could have just walked right through the gate.
Since I was recording a video, I saw that even before I took control of the city centre (don't know if that has any effect on it though), they were just standing on the other side of the city. What stopped him from entering? Once again, I wasn't controlling the wall or anything, I was fighting for the city centre and the infantry coming in the side gate in the meantime.
Please let me know if this is some sort of bug or not.
