Default What Should each Faction Intro be Like?

In RTW the faction intros attempted to put you in the mindset of the factions and make you connect with them - but they were just clone armies walking around the bland RTW terrain. The speeches themselves were cliche in some cases or just nonsense (Roman Patricians making plans to set up an Empire in the pre-punic war era).

What would you guys like to see for faction intros in RTW2? What kind of video component would you want? What should the speeches be like? What should the point of a faction intro be?

I really don't care as long as they're different, because the Medieval 2 ones were so booooooring.

RTW faction intros were quite nice and the reason is that they were different. I really hope they'll have that feature back. I'd certainly want it. In RTW I enjoyed the Greek intro the most.

The Greek one seemed the most correctly done. It could have used better visuals, but I think it really gave you an idea of the state of the Greek world and the lament felt by those who remembered the glory of Alexander's conquest.

I want the audio and narrating to be similar to Rome1, but offer more footage than marching armies, like Shogun2.

I care not for them either. You watch them once or twice. Seems like a waste of time and resources that could be spent on helping the AI department.

"Gods, I HATE Gauls! My grandfather hated them too, even before they put out his eyes." Friggin awesome!

I'd actually want to see a cutscene from a triumph. Like the one in "Rome" with a voiceover: "A triumph! The greatest honor a Roman can achieve. For a day you are a not mortal, you are a God and your name lives forever in the history of the City. And there are a great lot of peoples, over whom we Sons of Mars can triumph. Greeks to the South. And to the North the Gauls. Twenty and hundred years passed since they sacked our fair city, desecrated our holy shrines, raped our women and took our treasures. And they will pay. For Rome does not forget. Rome does not forgive."

The Carthaginian should be quite easy, just watch the first minutes of "Hannibal, Rome's Worst Nightmare"
The hellenistic factions' intro for the most part should be variations of "I can be the next Alexander".

That would certainly be better than the pathetic mewling of the Vanilla RTW intro. God that one sucked.

Rome was the best in my opinion, especially that quote from torongill.

which quote? If the second one, I made that up

I'm imagining real cinema intros, not CGI.

Of course, intros would be highly dependent on the starting date. An intro of Carthage before the First Punic War would be very different from one after it.

I think CA should watch the movie "TROY" and just take all the speeches and implement them into RTW2, now that would be EPIC!

Actually that's a terrible idea for many reasons,
1st - copy quotes from a movie into a game is silly and would sound silly.

2nd - It's a game based on Rome so having quotes from Troy should be frowned upon.

    3rd - See #2 ^

Many people of the ancient era have good speeches here is one from Calgacus *not his entire speech which is quite long*,
Whenever I consider the origin of this war and the necessities of our position, I have a sure confidence that this day, and this union of yours, will be the beginning of freedom to the whole of Britain. ---Now that'd be epic for a briton general to say.

In the Roman senate there should a a patrician named Gaius Rianius Paulinus who is very much hated by the plebeians as he opposes any kind of welfare.

I think the cutscene shoud be made to tell you about what has happened and what is happening, like the what the adviser does (at the start of the campaign) in recent TWs

No faction intro spend that monies on texture and 3d model artists to make different looking armor quality levels with lots of variations.
