    Default Yet another reform question

Playing as Rome. I have taken my ninth Iberian province, which satisfies the requirements for reforms... but no reforms. Must I wait until the government fully transitions in my newly acquired region?

Sorry if this has been previously asked and answered.

If the Marian Reforms are working (which is by no means a sure thing, as I don't believe anyone has been able to test them, but they will definitely be working in the next version), you'll have to wait a few turns for the reforms to kick in.

Thank you for the reply. I will report to you what happens.

In any event, I only recruit princepes, and have not recruited a hastati or triaria now for quite some time. I call it the Zom reforms.

Yes, I know that. Thanks. I have nine major regions, with one that is still in transition. Next gaming session should tell the tale.

Well, all nine of my Iberian regions are now fully under control; no more transition governments. Yet... no reform. To the east I have more than enough conquests. Africa was a done deal long ago. Perhaps I have failed to meet my Gaulic quota? I guess I could understand if Bononia did not qualify as Gaulic (but the Gauls certainly acted like it was theirs.) And perhpas even Medialonum, though they keep trying to come over the Alps to retake it. But certainly Massalia is part of Gaul... no?

I shall continue. The cities of the southern coast of Gaul were not among those I pillaged, so I will take them. I will continue the conquest of Iberia until it is under my control completely. If the reform kicks in, I will let you know.

Do you also own two of the 'island regions'?

Yes, two of the three. One in Asia Minor. Six in Africa. The entire coast of the Adriatic. More than three huge cities in Italy. Not to meantion all of southern Greece and most of northern Greece.

No. No reform. I am wondering if anyone has reported achieving it, and if so, what I possibly did not do right.

I will continue with the Zom reforms: drafting only Principes units and Equites from Roman regions; establishing cavalry screens with AOR missle cav units on the strategic map; and archers, lots of archers to supplement my Roman legions... I have a pipeline of archers from my Greek Italian/Sicilian regions to Actium.

But the core is the legion, and now in the year 115 BCE my domain is a legion raising machine. For every two fresh units sailing forth I have one veteran returning for retraining. And those veterans are worth any reform unit.

I will await the patch that fixes the reforms and provides other wonders. I will not mind too much playing the game a second time, as I am so much more knowledgeable now in how to handle the Roman FMs and offices... although that Darth Mod Napolean that just came out has caught my eye.

I built a government structure that allows for building reform troops in Carthage (where I do not raise troops anyways) to see if maybe I did get the reform without fanfare. Nope.
