    Default [WIP] Imjin Total War

So far, this is just an idea that I'm slowly working on. It will be from 1500~1600, and the best name I can come up with is with the famous Imjin War (Japanese invasion of Korea).

    Here, an idea map:

    The new factions:

The only progress I have done is changing one of the faction symbols (England) to Joseon. I'll slowly work my way to 100% finished... But I'm not sure how well this mod is going to turn out :/

Very interesing. I've seriously pondered doing such a project, but other things keep drawing my attention .

In any case, may I ask why you want to implement the Minamoto/Fujiwara/Taira in such a time frame?

I've been thinking about it for a long time, finally decided to do it because I really want to see the results of this.

I actually took most of the factions from EU3 Divine Wind's Japan. Other maps of Sengoku were so fragmented that I don't think I can fit all of them in there, and those 4 factions were in the EU3 timeline so I inserted it in here x3

Also so you'd have to unify Japan before attacking the Mainland ^o^

How about something like that for a Strat Map in terms of coverage?

I was playing around with a map for the region.

Gives you China and Korea regions, Japan, the Phillipines, and SE asia.

I like that you included the 4 Old Clans, not 3. Taira, Fujiwara, Tachibana, and Minamoto. Shogun got that wrong by only having 3 with 2 brances. Oh well.

For example the Hojo, Chiba, Miura, Hatakeyama, and Oda all claim to be Taira. The rest are pretty much Minamoto. The Tachibana kind of went nowhere and the Fujiwara are somewhat less important than the Taira and Minamoto during this period.

The Clans of Japan are an extended Royal Family. The 4 Clans all claimed relations to the Imperial House which is why they competed for power. The various Daimyo were clans of the four old clans or at least elevated retainers who most likely eventually married in.

Part of the problem with Shogun 2 is it's sort of like doing a War of the Roses as a game... Everyone is French (English) and related.

Thanks for the stuff, Col. Tartleton! I'm gonna post some CoAs and ideas when I'm finished with this.

Also, I'm probably gonna have most of the Chagatai Khanate cut off, should I still make them a faction?

Wouldn't you rather have the toyotomi and and his vassals as factions instead of the fujwara, minamoto, and taira clans? Those clans were long gone and the clans of sengoku times only claim lineage from those clans.

However this is a great idea, and can't wait to see what you come up with. Keep up the good work.:

Ming, Joseon, ---- ok thats correct....

but with Taira, Fujiwara and Minamoto?

Uhm why that? I mean sure at least the Fujiwara is as far as I know is still kinda prominent but not really known as samurai clan.

Yes but its still kinda feels wrong seeing Taira and Minamoto colors in a Azuchi Momoyama or at least Momoyama Jidai.

Dividing to Shimazu, Mori, Chosokabe, Toyotomi and Tokugawa might sound good, but then again the 1500s start date.

Lol this is like Civ 5 version, you have Senjo the Great of 1400s battling against Nobunaga who was nowhere near Korea though he'd want to and then we have an Chinese Empress who looks straight out of Three Kingdoms Period.

(Its clickable by the way....An S2 overhaul mod.)

Seriously. Click it. Its the only overhaul mod that's overhauling enough to bring out NEW clans

Lol yeah, sorry. I'm not really that good at the Sengoku period so I took the ideas off of Europa Univeralis 3, I'll edit it now that you said it.

    Thanks but first.

Be on the look out for similar mods, as in any mods that deals with China from any period in a Total War game, you'll have a better chance cooperating with others who have similar mods already.

I agree with Erwin on the factions. Shimazu in Kyushu, Mori in western Honshu, Chosokabe in Shikoku, Oda (rather than Toyotomi?) in North-Central Honshu, and Tokugawa in South-Central Honshu. Plus maybe throw in Date in North Honshu. That fills out Japan geographically and politically. It's not ideal naturally, but you're not focusing on Japan alone and there are constraints. Your scope is larger than mine, but I appropriated about 8-12 Factions for Japan. I think I would make the Ezochi rebels rather than a faction. I don't think the northerners had any hope of doing anything more than weathering the storm.

What about a European faction like Spain for the Spanish East Indies and maybe some sultanate in Mindanao (lowest island in the Philippines as shown in the map).

I mean the Spanish Governor actually harbored desires for conquering China in this time period.

This is one mod very look like your idea. The only different is the timeline ( 12th - 13th century). Maybe you should join with them.

Although I don't good in English, but i have a warning to you: really difficult to find too many civilization and nation for only one mod. We really don't have any knowledge about some kingdom like Lan Xang, Daiviet, Champa, Khmer Empire,... and very difficult to find more info about them.

I really think one mod about civil war of only one nation will more easy to do.

Thanks, I've already contacted the Dragon mod leader but he hasn't replied yet, and the Three Kingdoms one is not what I really want to achieve Although I was surprised that Gigantus is working on it!

Yeah and it sucks that you can't do naval battles. All the cool asian ships were during this time, too! But unfortunately you can't mod any of the naval warfare games like you can with Medieval 2. Ugh. I hope Rome 2 can let us mod more than Shogun 2. And to think that when I watched the trailer for Shogun 2 they said they'll "make it very moddable". >.>

Thanks, I want as few factions as possible because I've played other mods that have maximum factions, and during late game it takes FOREVER for a turn to end, and I don't really want that, so I'll try to have as few as possible, but be accurate at the same time. However if I have to, I might do a lot of factions for Japan. Could you give me a map of what you're talking about? Sorry, I'm not too much of an expert on Japan x)

I really considered the idea, actually. Especially when the Japanese also sought to conquer the Nanban (Southern Barbarians) which was the name for European Traders at that time. Any chance I get to have them into this mod will definitely be a yes yes yes.

Yes! And I also dislike Shogun 2 for not being so moddable.

Yes, but that really takes the whole goal of this mod away from me if I limit it to a civil war of one nation. That's why I really liked the All Under Heaven mod but they have so few previews and stuff coming out from them now that I got really impatient. I actually asked to join them, but they turned me down. So I'll just make this mod, and I'm going to see if I can merge with the Dragon mod but he hasn't replied yet so... Once again I gotta wait

If you can fit it, here's a breakdown of Japan. If not, don't worry about it. Those are the medieval provinces which existed during the frame of your mod. Shogun 2's map is accurate AFAIK.

    These are the Chinese Provinces.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    China 15 Provinces
    Fengtian

    Sichuan
    Guizhou
    Zhejiang
    Fujian
    Guangdong
    Guangxi
    Jiangxi

However it's important to note that the provinces are huge and should have several constituent counties. My map I uploaded with China that is colored is pretty accurate. I combined some of the counties but still left several counties per province. China is stupidly huge and that's the reality of it. If not for the stability of the Ming Dynasty, you could make an entire game just on Chinese territory. China is bigger than Europe and modern China although larger than Ming China is smaller than Qing China which was basically the entirety of Asia proper. The weakness of Ming is that it's so large you can't do much besides administrate the territory you already have.

Your map is quite a bit larger than mine, so you might be able to get away with 2-3 game provinces per historical Chinese province.

Looks good! I also like the map as well as the factions except the japanese factions which need to changed to something more sengoku.

I also like the ideas of europeans, so keep gathering your ideas for your mod.
