    Default Switching sides

Anyone else think it would be a good idea if sometimes units and even generals would switch sides after a battle that leaves a faction screwed or faction leader dead.

Sorry if it’s already been mentioned.

maybe if you crush an army and kill the general then the survivors could join you? or you take prisoners and adopt them into your army.

There is another way. WHen in heat ofcobat andyou have a ally, what if they could switch sides mid battle and turn aroud to attack you. CA said there whould be allot of betrayal.

interesting idea, but it will make life too hard for player that is already in trouble.

i have an idea like that. if you recruit units in recently conquered region they could be untrustworthy for some number of turns and could turn to enemy's side in case of battle.

Expanding on that they could factor loyalty into all units not just generals. And that would be affected by where the unit was recruited as you said, the factions current power and recent events. It could also make it so that your cities very far back from the frontline could still be useful because those troops would be far more loyal. They could also increase the upkeep and recruitment costs of units in the recently captured cities for a short time. Yes it would make the game more complicated and harder but it can always be optional.

If I remember correctly you could do that in MTW1. Seeing how the AI has backstab syndrome you would probably get back stabbed alot in battle, making that pyrrhic victory into defeat.

Or maybe when a certain Faction Leader dies that had extremely huge influence causes some minor generals to rebel thinking that it isnt worth it anymore?

I still like my idea best, it makes Extremely hard to kill Generals like maybe hannibal a reward for you or a consequence depending on who you play/ally/war with.

If they do this I hope they tone down the amount of random hatred the AI has they'd declare war you for breathing sometimes I swear a nation that the player has been fair and just to should have a really low chance of betrayal of course factoring in opportunity.

CA mentioned that merceneries are going to be controlled by AI and this is where back stabing can take place too.. I dont know what is going to trigec it but it seems that merceneries can back stab you during the battle itself...
