Worst Minor Loose Ends. (spoilers)

This is a thread for what minor/secondary loose ends have got you scratching you head wondering and really hoping that the next book answers your questions. These are not supposed to be big things like, what will Sansa do next, or is Dany going to make it to Westeros or not. Mostly because they are main story stuff and we are all waiting for that. I have seen a couple threads about individual loose ends. Where Eddards bones went are great and this can be a thread to keep them all together for disscusion.
My 2 are.

-What happened to Dawn and who is the next Sword of the Morning?

-What caused the Doom or what was the Doom.

I think that the Doom was caused by the dragons rebelling and that they still inhabit Valyria which is why ships rarely make it out.

The Doom seems likely to be a supervolcano eruption.

Dawn was returned to Ashara Dayne and is likely kept at Starfall until someone proves themself worthy enough to wield it.

I thought that is what happened to Dawn but it kind of nags at me that Martin (not you sorry) either forgot about it or the next person to wield Dawn could be a really important part of the next books.

The only living male member of House Dayne is Lord Edric Dayne, he is at the time of the first book 12 years old and was Beric Dondarrion's squire. Being only a boy he would not be handed Dayne until he comes of age. When Beric died his last death he and a small group left the Brotherhood and their new leader, Lady Stoneheart to go their seperate way.

You then have Gerold Dayne who is of the cadet branch that rules High Hermitage. He was last noted as fleeing to Starfall with Balon Swann and Obara Sand hunting him down.

My guess is that the sword is being kept at Starfall until Lord Edric comes of age, I also guess that Gerold Dayne (AKA the Darkstar) will claim it and use the sword to defend himself against his persuers.

It usually goes to a member of House Dayne but not necessarily. Only to who is most worthy. But I have now come up with a really intresting idea over who will claim it.

I still believe it is left unclaimed until Lord Edric comes of age. Otherwise someone would have mentioned it by now.

I think we will see it in the first quarter of WOW what became of Balon Swann and probably Dayne and Darkstar in the same time.

This is kind of random but I think whoever is Azor Azhai will claim it and it will become the glowing sword of legend. It is called Dawn and the war that the First Men and Children of the Forest fought to defeat the Others was called War of the Dawn wasn't it? Might be a huge coincidance but that is kind of what this thread is about. Little things that could be huge or a total fluke.

The Sword of Light is said to radiate heat and light. Dayne does neither of those things.

Like I said it could be a coincidance. Just like Dawn could be another word for morn, Morn rhymes with Dorne, The Reach is the Dornes nieghbor, The river Mander is in the Reach, The Manderlys are from the Reach and probably lived by the mander back a while ago. Therefore I think Wylis Manderly will be the next Sword of the Dawn. It is all for fun and what little side things could possibly lead to bigger ones. Or even just to clear up a loose end that you missed the resolution to in the books.

I would like to know what is happening with Edric Storm across the narrow sea maybe hes having some cool adventures

Did they ever figure out what happened to Tyrek Lannister?

Will anyone rule Harrenhal without being affected by the curse?

Will the Blackwood-Bracken feud ever end?

What will Edmure's future be like?

Will the Florents ever return to the Reach or will they become like the Manderlys an exiled house.

Who will get Storm's End now that the remaining Baratheons are either in rebellion, bastards or false Baratheons born of incest.

Same thing for the Eyrie seeing that the only real Arryn is deadly sick and the rest are too lowborn to rule.

How come no more recruits reach the Night's Watch? War Yoren the only recruiter the watch had?

I believe Dareon was the next recruiter who went with Sam and Aemon across the narrow sea

And Cersei ordered the building of ships in KL in which Aurane Waters wanted potential nights watch recruits to serve the new fleet instead

I think after the series there will be no more need for them. As for right now I am guessing Jon couldn't spare any more men or had none he could trust no to desert.
