Icon9 Total war rome 2 costing well over $400?

So as i hear it the minimum requirements will be the same or similar to total war shogun 2. now im sure thats good. im also sure that many loyal TW fans including myself have been wondering if their GPU/CPU is powerfull enough to play this game on a respectable graphics level like high-ultra. hey! remember shogun 2 and how horifyingly optimized it was for multi-core processors and didnt really take advantage of the speed and memory of the graphics card? yeah my birthday wish (although it was in May, i still havent used it) will be that total war rome 2 supports higher end hardware as well as lower end type stuff. so in reality the game will obviously be more demanding as would be reasonable. although by how much? if it has proper optimization i wouldnt be so bothersome. now getting to the meat of what this is all about, what will the reccomended hardware be? if you can play shogun 2 on high-ultra settings, you should atleast be able to do the same with rome 2 without shadows or something. i know alot of people that really need to play this game on those settings to achieve full orgasm whill playing the game. so will i need a $1000 dollar GPU just to play this on a nice looking setting? even if buying a new GPU like next gen graphics cards to play this is totally unreasonable. so i pray that they find a way to make it around the reccomended specs as shogun 2.
HEAR ME! ZUES MIGHTY GOD OF THUNDER! I WILL FIND A WAY TO MAKE THIS POSSIBLE!!! GOD SAVE THE KING!

Somehow i think it will play just fine with high-ish settings and just no anti aliasing.

Yeah we can only hope at this point.

I never play games with Anti aliasing anyway waste of hardware power just to make things fuzzy looking, and running at high resolution has a similar smoothing effect with less demand.

No, sorry. High resolution cannot combat aliasing. High resolution usually is accompanied by larger displays, meaning the pixel density is not (significantly) larger. High resolutions are also very inefficient performancewise - AA is always better (when it works properly. How it should not be done: Max Payne 3).

This damn economic recession is forcing developers to keep low level specs @ fairly low levels - XP levels! By the time Rome 2 is released, a current powerful computer should be fairly affordable ... so if i was you, I'd wait till then unless you want to play other top end games between then and now?

The recession has nothing to do with the current graphic level, if anything has effected it is the long life of the current consoles. Still i feel that companies like DICE,Bethesda and CA are still pushing graphics with every new iteration.

High resolution is nice I suppose, but as long as it works; ROME II!!!

I remember CA advert propaganda in their run-up to Empire release telling people to get better Pcs for it.

    Don`t.

    Wait and see.

Yes it matters because there is no substance in all these threads at all nor do they have anything to do with rome 2, if u want to discuss hardware go to the basement section

Actually I haven't made anymore since the last one was closed, and to be honest it does have something to do with Rome 2 knowing whether or not you can actually play it on ultra is very appealing to some people. If I was wondering if the AMD radeon 6800 serries could play grand ages Rome on ultra then it has nothing to do with Rome 2 then you could say it has absolutely nothing to do with Total War: Rome 2. But the fact is, this does. And it was dead anyway until someone couldn't mind his/hers business. Obviously I didn't realize this was spamming because I thought spamming was making post after post in unison about the same thing, these were spaced out and therefore not spamming.

People will likely be upgrading far past the £400 mark (me included), so the least the devs can do is make sure the game is optimized to use our hardware to the best of it's ability (Not extra cores sitting on their idle arses for example).

I think we have to make as much noise as possible on the hardware side of things!

I don't want to see my prized and expensive gaming rig not playing the game at the best fps (shogun2) when it's not my hardware's fault, it's the dev's.

If it were different people opening threads about hardware requirements and such, it would be permissible. However you have opened multiple threads about the same damn topic and even had a mod close your topic after we pointed this fact out.

Your threads was moved to the Basement for a reason, you'll get better answers if you go to the Basement about this. Although this is about stuff related to Rome 2, it's not discussing the features of it, it's just a thread of asking: WILL MY COMP BE ABLE TO HANDLE THIS?! That stuff is for the basement.

Given you had this thread and it is a bit early to speculate on this, I will close the thread. If you need technical assistance, ask it in the Basement. If you want to voice your concern about Rome II eating up resources, wait until we will know more.
