Default Crusade Called on Non-Heretical, Reikland-owned Altdorf?

Earlier in the game I once looked into the targets that I could call a crusade against. Some of the cities Reikland owned were on that list but I never tried to see if it works. The AI seemed to have done it for me though.

The crazy thing is, is that Middleheim has fallen to heresy, and the Crusade was called on one of the loyalist cities. The cities of Reikland being on the list were there prior to Middleheim falling into heresy too.

Is this a bug, or does the script call for me to break the alliance in that turn and take the city?

I noticed same, I did get earlier info how the factions are no longer allies with the rest of Empire, but the script fixed that in no time. This could lead a bad situation, where you cant take the city, since I watched Drothen's orc's let's play, and similar situation happened. The crusade was called to Sylvania capital, but dwarves tooked it first, so there was bunch of Empire troops surrounding it but they couldn't take the castle.. This was in 1.44, don't know if it will happen in 1.51.

If this happens, maybe there is a command for making the city rebel (?), or something similar, this way you or anyone could take the settlement..

I thought it was possible to take cities by just getting the diplomat and declaring war on the faction that owned them? I remember being able to do this by shuffling an army right next to the city, cutting ties and declaring war with the diplomat, taking the city, and then next turn we would be allies again.

Does this no longer work in 1.5.1?

Hmmm, I have not tryed it, but yes, if that is possible, it sounds way more simpler solution The case I was referring was Drothen playing orcs, so he had no possibility to do that.

When it happen i reload and call crusade on another enemy town. Cheap to reload but crasude on allies is just too stupid.

I think the issue is they may have attacked the grand theogonist's estate. Thus excommunicating them. However, next turn, they're automatically allied back up and brought to perfect relations, however they are still excommunicated, and thus, a potential crusade target. And due to it being so close to the 'Pope', I reckon it's probably the highest rated one too for him.

When I was playing as Nordland and trying to get the heresy thing to trigger, before I found out it's based on religion, not just attacking the 'Estate, I got excommunicated and re-allied next turn, and I could even call a crusade on myself.
