    Default Can't recruit vigilis units?

    As near as I can tell, I should be able to recruit these units with the lowest level of the governor's palace. However, using 5.0, I can't do this. None of my cities can recruit these guys. Any idea what is going on? Thanks.

    Ive never played this mod, so I cant tell for certain. But if you want to change this, open up your export_descr_buildings.txt file, and find the section of government buidlings (should be more or less at the top). Then add in the line corresponding to the units dictionary entry (see export_descr_units to find this) and in the brackets put the faction(s) you want. Also in the export_descr_unit file, make sure that the faction you want them to be recruited for has ownership of the unit

    I am also having trouble recruiting Sagitarri Gravis, the higher level archers. I have the building that allows them to be recruited, but I can't build them. It kind of sucks being stuck with the weaker archers. Any help here? Thanks.

    interesting problem yopu have there, as entries for cohortis vigilum are as they should be recruitabl in govt bldgs from lowest to highest level, same in EDU. same with the SG, they're only recruitable by eastern rome, btw.
    so unless you edited some things I really have no idea why you couldn't recruit them.
    just to be sure make sure you upgraded to 5.03
    also do as publius says and look for the entry 'western peasant' those are the cohortis vigilum

    Yes, I checked out what he said and everything seemed ok. But I didn't realize there was a 5.03 fix. I'm d/ling that now - we'll see if that fixes it. Thanks, very enjoyable and different mod.

    Ok, used 5.03 and unfortunately, no change.

    One thing, I forgot to mention, I can build vigilus in towns with the lowest governor's palace, but it seems once I upgrade, they are no longer available. So there seems to be a problem when that happens.

    But I still can't build the sagittari gravis. And I really care more about that than the vigilus. Can you take a look at this?

    that was done on purpose, so that on higher level buildings AI will be forced to build better armies

    Ok, that's cool, good idea even if it causes the player to lose a bit of flexibility.



    what faction are you playing?
    Eastern Romans so I should be able to build these guys, right?

    Duh, dumb me. Never mind. They were there all along - I just didn't recognize their unit icon in the production window. Apologies for the "duh" moment.
