    CA Developer Icon Minor patch

    Hi all,

Here's a few minor patch notes for today's little fix.

    • Fix for Co-operative Multiplayer Campaign victory conditions. The campaign will end when the victory conditions are met.
    • Increased the variant texture cache size on low, medium and high graphics settings to prevent bodies from twitching on the battle map.
    • Added DLC requirement string to Saints and Heroes unit tool tips in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Czech, Russian and Polish on the veteran selection screen.
    • The download bar will now show for clients when downloading user generated multiplayer battle maps.
    • Unit names will now appear correctly above the selected units in the unit stats roster in the battle lobby.
    • Desynchronisation / desync fix for Multiplayer Campaign.

    Thanks,

    CraigTW

Excellent news Craig! That's pretty satisfactory! As a cookie I might buy a DLC this weekend.

And people said that the game would be ignored one Rome 2 was announced.
Increased the variant texture cache size on low, medium and high graphics settings to prevent bodies from twitching on the battle map.
    That was a big problem.
    Thank You CA

But basically the game will just hang at 299 seconds for both players, and so far can't get past turn 15, we have started up a few campaigns, and just seems to keep occuring, although on my first attempt, i was able to play one battle, then with every other atempt and new campaign, it just continue to hang at the battle screen for both players.

Yeah i'm having the same problem too. We are already on turn 73 or something like that. However the bug only occurred recently after the Saints and heroes pack was added. Until then we did not experience such a bug. If you need, i can also post a screenshot.

4.4 gig update, why do i always have to download 1/4 of the game every time you patch it?

Well the patch says it solves some MPC issues, maybe they are referring to those?

Thanks Craig. Any news when the game is expected to finish it's beta-testing stage? I'm assuming that's what we paid for, to be beta-testers. "The campaign will end when the victory conditions are met." Uhhhh, yeah, that's the idea. Something players expect when they buy a finished product.

This particular issue is a digital pat on the back and has zero effect on gameplay.

Would you also consider the desync issue a digital pat on the back that has zero effect on gameplay?

I've never seen any game require so many post-launch patches as this one. I'm waiting for people to report on the new bugs introduced with this patch...

A distinct issue requiring a distinct response. That forced correlation of yours is a terrible inclination to see the quality of this thread deteriorate.

There is a link in the Steam browser for when a download a occurs you can see updates to what was downloaded. That's the first place people look to see what's in the new updates and it's the most logical place to put that information.

Posting patch notes on a forum means to discuss the patch notes. That's the whole point of a forum. A forum isn't (or at least, shouldn't be) about cheerleading.

The kinds of patches coming out are about things that any reasonable person paying full price for the game expects to be implemented at point of sale.

The only thing that deteriorates in quality based on this thread is the state of gaming by people who promote a cheerleading type of attitude from game publishers / developers. CA isn't doing any of us a favour. They have only postponed implementing what should have been implemented in the first place. If they don't fix these issues, then it's lost revenue for future sales - the company gets a reputation for not releasing completely functioning games.

Hahaha you obviously haven't played many games my friend? I have sword of the stars 2, even when it's a magnificent bastard of game, it gets patched almost weekly.

It`ll be nice to see the twitching bodies thing killed at last.

CA - thanks for killing the twitching bodies - maybe that'll help a bit with FPS as well.

Yes as Lord Baal said, Shogun 2 is hardly the most patched game.. his example of Sword of the Stars 2 is a great one- about 2 patches per week for the past several months. That's not an exaggeration. Some of them aren't even save compatible.

I'm glad they're taking the time to patch up Shogun 2 to be the best it can be. It's something that hasn't been done as thoroughly with previous total war titles I think. A good trend.
