Rome Total War Directx

Hello, I've had Rome Total War Gold on Steam for a while, and it has always worked, failed to find steam a lot, but I've always fixed it. A bit ago, I installed Roma Surrectum, unfortunately, the mod didn't work, but I didn't really care. I wanted to play it again, but it would crash and say, "Rome Total War requires Directx9 to work, it will now exit." The thing is, I have directx9, and I've tried to download it, but it says I have it. This has been going on for a while, and I'm getting pretty annoyed. Any help? I've tried googling it, to no avail. Yes, I've reinstalled it many times, updated my drivers, etc.

What is your OS?

I'm using Vista. The game has worked before.

Have you disabled the UAC? Total War games pretty much hate it.
Did you delete the Rome folder and run a registry cleaner before reinstalling? Something tells me you may have leftover file, registry keys, uninstall info, etc. still on your harddrive.

What's the UAC? Also, I might have some Roma Surrectum leftover files for some reason, even though I uninstalled. I'll delete the whole folder and uninstall from Steam. I hope it works.

Also, I've had no problems with Medieval 2 as a Total War game.

Nevermind, it's fixed, I just had to delete the whole folder and reinstall, since a few of the mod stuff was in the old folder. Thanks a ton for the help, Irish!
