I'm considering buying that board, it says ATI Crossfire on it so does that mean I can't SLI nvidia cards in that?

Havn't used intel since the thunderbird CPU i had and all the AMD board support nvidia sli so this confuses me.

Yeah. If you want to do a dual/multi Videocard system, crossfire is limited to ATI cards and SLI is limited to Nvidia. So you cannot SLI a Nvidia card in that system. If you buy it, you can only run two ATI cards

Yeah you need an SLI compatable motherboard to sun an SLI system. But, two X1900XTXs in a crossfire system takes a lot of beating, so if you really want that board, then I would go for crossfire.

But what cards are you getting? Remember, one high end card is better than two medium end ones. If you were planning on getting, say, two 7600GTs, dont bother get a 7900GTX instead. Same with ATIs, go for an X1900XT, and then go SLI if you can afford another top end card.

Thats a kick butt mainboard but I've heard that they struggle with high temps. The chipset is configured for ATI and there is no SLI bridge, so even if you tried 2 nVidia based VCs you couldn't connect them together without the bridge, and SLI bridges are only sold as part of a mainboard package.....
