Great, now that I have your attention:
I remember in the first Rome we had the senate sending you on a mission every now and... all the time. I don't know if that will be a feature in Rome 2, but if so I have a kind of neat idea. What if you can influence the senate a little bit in the form of a censor. In Roman times one of the functions of the censor was to put different citizens in different classes and so influence the senate a bit. The censor was elected every five years. So how about you get on the censorseat and choose some general course of action for the senate.
So, for example, you can choose the more economical inclined senators which will give you a mission like 'build a market there' or 'make an x amount of talents/denarii in an x amount of years'. The cultural senators would give you a mission like 'build this' or 'send your general to the university' (just making up some examples here). The militaristic senators ask you to conquer this or that or send a strong garrison to some city. The nautic senators ask you to establish trade routes via sea or build a fleet. The anti barbarian faction asks you to crush some Gauls etc. etc.
The basic idea is giving you three options but not the same options every five years (to keep some variety).
