Yeah, Catelyn is just as stupid as her brother. Even Hodor could outsmart her.

Lysa's problem isn't the stupidity, its the mental instability (possibly caused by all those miscarraiges) and having LF as your secret lover...

I have to agree that the Tully bloodline seems kind of tainted as of late... but there is always the Blackfish who is a great warrior and strategist... I have always been annoyed by Daenerys, I've never hated her... but she is the worst suited person to restore the Targaryen dynasty to power... think about at every turn she thwarts the attempts of her advisers to help her to restore her dynasty... when Ser Barristan suggests she go back to Westeros with her army, she rejects it completely to stay and rule Meeran which completely falls apart shortly afterwards trapping most of her loyal followers in a horrible position in Meeran against the Yunkish slavers... while meanwhile in Westeros the time is ripe for Daenerys return and she misses this opportunity to try and play Queen in Meeran...
I really hope Dany is killed by her own Unsullied just before that dothraki horde comes to her.
So, Catelyn is dumb, Dany is boring and Sansa is going from terrible to boss.
Common theme: Cat actually regressed in intelligence and competence. Dany stopped developing and became an annoying, whiny teenage girl (realism is not appreciated by me in this case). Sansa started off as a dumb fangirl princess, and is now well placed to take over the Vale, Riverlands and North through Littlefinger, let alone the rest of the realm, with her husband coming home with a mercenary army unbeknownst to her. So she plays Tyrion against LF, and the resulting awesome wins the series. And the realm for her. Answer: characters are good when they develop and are likable or sympathetic.
Now that you mentioned Tyrion, will he actually take the mercenaries to Westeros o take the realm with Aegon or will he help Dany and stay in Essos before returning?

If he can get to Dany, he will try and stay with her. She has dragons, he is obsessed with dragons and has dreamed of them all his life. He may be the most knowlegable man alive on dragonlore.
Based upon the warning Quaithe gives to Dany, its pretty certain the two will meet
The glass candles are burning. Soon comes the pale mare, and after her the others. Kraken and dark flame, lion and griffin, the sun's son and the mummer's dragon. Trust none of them. Remember the Undying.Beware the perfumed seneschal
Tyrion wants 3 things
* To ride a dragon
* To kill Cersei
* To take Casterly Rock, which is his by rights
Dany gives him his best chance of doing all 3. How she reacts to the brother-in-law of the Usurper, and perhaps more importantly, how Barristan Selmy react to him, will determine if he joins her.

Has Tyrion done anything more than read books on Dragons? I mean, I know he's read a lot about them, but surely there's a Maester or Red Priest that knows more.
Unfortunately, being a learned Maester is quite a hazardous occupation these days.
Maester Luwin of Winterfell....dead
Maester Cressen of Dragonstone...dead
Maester Aemon of the Nights Watch....dead
Grand Maester Pycelle of Kings Landing...dead
When Tyrion goes north to The Wall he is reading "a rumination on the histories and properties of dragons, with Lord Eddard's permission Tyrrion had borrowed a few rare volumes from Winterfell". That book is doubtless now destroyed - how many other living men will have read that book? And no human knows anything about dragons other than what they have read in a book, because until Dany, they had been gone for 150 years...

The Maesters in the Citadel presumably have an ample supply of books, and reports of firsthand studies of the old Targaryen dragons. And Tyrion presumably knows nothing of controlling dragons- stuff like that would have been kept secret by the Targaryens, and less likely to end up in public hands.

It was hinted at by a Maester- but to be able to secretly kill off the dragons, they must know a lot about them. After being around them for 150 years, and being close to the Targaryen kings.
And at the moment it is hinted that the Citadel is split, between those who want to help Dany, and presumably those who want to kill the dragons.
I have one thing to say about Daenerys:
THIS
There's only one thing I hope will happen to Daenerys:

muhahahaha![]()
Luwin... died in battle
Cressen....poisoned himself
Aemon....over 100 years old, real surprise he died
Pycelle....has basically been dying since Tyrion put him in prison, and is under quite much pressure since Cersei decided she was better out without him
It's not really a surprise any of these diedThere's that weirdo maester with the dragonglass candle who probably knows more
Imagine if Qyburn got his hands on a dragon.... he would find out their secrets in no time.

I actually like her just because she represents one of the cool bits of Tolkien fantasy in ASOIAF along with the Others, the Children of the Forest, and Giants (although I love the human drama that GRRM does so well). She is the last of an ancient bloodline and I like her because I want her to become something, I see potential. I want her to raise Old Valyria and conquer Westeros. I do however find her annoying and childish. I wish Drogon would have carried her off to the ruins of Valyria instead. That would have been cool. Idk. What story arc would make more of you like her?

I can't possibly hate Dany! To her belong "The Song of Ice and Fire"! The Targaryens are the only ones with a real claim to Westeros, the others are just barbaric usurpers.
And actually, Danny will fly the three dragons with the other two cool characters in the book series: Tyrion and Jon.
The dragon has three heads. Dany is one. Tyrion is the bastard son of Aerys Targaryen from his affair with Joanna Lannister. That is why he was born deformed and killed his mother during his birth. He is a dragon, and a dragon warg. And Jon Snow is the bastard born from Lyanna Stark and Raeghar Targaryen rape/love thing. This is the secret that Ned Stark carried with him to the tomb. That shall keep unfolding, and in the end the three heads of the Targaryen dragon will be Dany, Jon and Tyrion.
That, obviously, if GRRM don't decide to change everything, just because he became a millionaire with the moronic HBO TV series, and will end up, probably, feeling better catering to the bunch of illiterates that learned about the world of ASOIAF through that ludicrous thing HBO call "game of thrones". The people that have been loyal and faithful to the series since the end of the 1990s, will probably be put aside, so the HBO viewers can get their way. The first season was not so bad, but the second one, with all the changes they did in the original story from the books, made me never want to watch that thing again.
Regarding the Starks, they are all morons, and the Tullys alike. Ned was always pathetic, Robb very pathetic (he lost a WAR - and his life - because of a b..ch that got something like 10 pages in the book, that is what I call stupid), Cat was very retarded (everything she did was retarded), Sansa is a retarded (FAILED) wannabe Cersei, Arya is totally retarded, and the only one that is LESS RETARDED (still stupid, but no so retarded) is Bran, basically because he got the Crannogmen kids with him (Crannogmen that ARE NOT IN THE HBO TV SERIES). I will not even talk about Edmure, and Lysa, and Lord Hoster and that thing about "tansy" that Cat can't figure out, and is one of the ingredients of the moon tea (Lord Hoster gave moon tea to Lysa so she could drop Littlefinger's bastard out of her womb, and marry Jon Arryn).
And when they say that HBO viewers most-loved character is Robb Stark that get myself really worried. If they decide to keep Robb, or Theon, or any other of the moronic northerners, wolf-kraken-tards alive? If they change the Red Wedding (the best part of the best book, ASoS, where all the boring morons get killed)?
That would be catastrophic to say the least.
