Well, I think this thread can be closed - the answer appears to be "because some people are absolutely determined to hate her and everything about her no matter what, and anything positive pointed out about Dany will be ignored or excused away as unadmissable evidence. Haters gunna hate."

The irony is that this can be applied to Dany fans even firmer-they're going to love her and excuse her no matter what she does. Most of her detractors(i assume) did not hate her in GOT, the only book where she didn't have everything handed to her, where she helped herself, suffered for her mistakes and showed a lot of character.

Ditto, I liked her character during the beginning but once you get to A Storm of Swords I have a massive urge to skip her chapters.

I hate her because thousands of people have and will die because of her stupid "plans", i can understand the sack of astapor to get an army for her conquest, but devasting the entire slaver's bay just to free some eslaves that are equally dying because of all the fighting and diseases that fighting causes was completely unnecessary.

I mean, she thinks so great because she has dragons, that is the "only" (well, they ARE DRagons nonetheless) thing she has, all her chances, power and plot significance is because them.

Oh and her great plan for becoming queen is tata.......burn all Westeros until she gets the Iron Throne. I really hate the chaos she brings to the world with her foolishness, i mean, Varis has caused a great mess, but he has a plan, a cause, a carefully built up scheme.

Dany didn't want to leave people behind. She knew what happened at Astapor when she left, and desperately wanted to avoid repeating it. She stayed for the same reason Eddart confronted Cerseil; Guilt.

Catelyn is another character I hated for her complaining and stupidity. But still she did not deserve to become Stoneheart. Martin is really cruel to Tullys/Starks.

He's cruel to very many characters and families, he's actually crueler to Lannisters than Starks. Yes they won the war but they lost so many family members they're like to break under any new threat. While all remaining Stark children have extremely thick plot armours(and Jon too).
