Taking The Ring To Imladris

Hey! I wasn't able to find any posts via search or in the FAQ answering this question:

So I (as Eriador) took the One Ring as soon as it showed up in a OoG citadel. A few turns later, I received a mission to take it to Imladris, but as it was late, I quit the game. Later, after reopening and reloading from the autosave, the event message didn't pop up. I didn't think much of it, so I just took my ringbearer to Imladris (held by High Elves, of course). I've now been there for about 15 turns. Is this normal? If not, is there any way I can reset it without starting over or killing my general off? I tried giving the One Ring to another general and waiting a few turns, but that didn't work. I tried moving the ring out of Imladris, but that didn't work either.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Spectre48

The event message has to be responded on ( Yes or No to go to Imladris ) and that turn finished or you're in trouble.
If you closed the game that turn (or if it crash or something) so you restart from the same turns start then the message will not reappear and the whole quest-part of the game will not work. Sorry mate

Just send your general to a suicide mission. I think that then will the ring appear in other settlement

You should be able to transfer it to a junk general too. No need to waste a good one. Even just adopt someone for the sole purpose of dieing.

Bummer! Okay, thanks for the reply guys. Luckily I saved my game a bunch of times and turns out I had a save during an enemy attack between turns. The turn that comes up, luckily, is the turn that the White Council summons me. Unfortunately I don't have the entire ring-bearer army that I put together, nor do I have two of the heroic victories that I pulled out of my arse, but at least it's not boring to replay those battles!

I'm guessing that there's no script or 'cheat' or anything that I can use to take the ring off of the general, and then add it back to him to restart the process? I'd rather not suicide him, even if he does have the 'The Cruel' title (which, I must add, is why I chose him as the ring-bearer - Loyal and cruel seems like a very good combination roleplay-wise for a ring-bearer, not to mention the fact that I don't want him as a governor).

Or just keep right-clicking the general with the ring to pop up his character information, because everytime you do that there is a small chance gollum might steal the ring

i have accepted the mission to imladris, and I am right up to the gates.. but nothing happens? any ideas?
I apologise if this has been answered but couldnt find it anywhere.

Welcome to TWC

Sounds wierd, as the general who have the Ring should but have to enter the proximity.
Do HE still own Imladris? If not you are supposed to go elsewhere. Also do you use any submission?

Yeah the High Elves still own it, not sure if its been lost and then recaptured.
The only thing i have done is swap the ringbearer, but then gave it bac to legolas and that still didnt work.
Might have to lose the ring and then try the whole thing again maybe?

ahhh I'm glad someone addressed this... I had no idea why this kept happening.

I don't mean to hijack but this pretty much just seems like a way to punish people who don't quicksave.

If I remember correctly you have to wait a few turns... or was that to destroy the ring... has been a while...

When i got to Rivendell the council met the next turn, and i got the mission to throw the ring into the lava of Mt. DOOOOMMMM!!! Then gollum stole it. >.<

No, it's intended to add a certain level of randomness to a campaign, perhaps about as random as the chance of getting robbed by Gollum presumably is haha
In a manner it's even safer than if the chance was based on 'each turn there's a X% it get stolen' since you can set the ringbearer to march across the map for many turns without chosing him, after all
