Thread: Any fix for the Reinforcement issue?

Default Any fix for the Reinforcement issue?

Hello, this ctd is just killing the mod. Half (if not more) of the battles in CoW end up with at least 1 or 2 reinforcing armies. That being said, this CTD keeps any of those battles from being playable, which is terrible! I personally do not like to auto-resolve as more often than not i will lose a battle that I should certainly not.

I know someone posted about changing a script file with Gigs BadAI, but the file posted basically made the entire game unplayable instead of just reinforced battles.

SOMEONE, ANYONE, please fix this issue. It is destroying the mod!

It affects most mods since most big mods use ReallyBadAI, but this one probably more so since we get so many scripted stacks close together. In this thread on the TATW forums, people discuss how you might be able to avoid the issue. Otherwise, IMO it's very unlikely it will get fixed any time soon, since Germanicu5 hasn't been on the forums for half a year or so.

Just a small update, proposed "fixes" for the reinforcement CTD include not moving your army until the reinforcements have completely entered the battlefield, not interacting with the enemy until the reinforcements have entered the battlefield, running kingdoms.exe as administrator, and setting your computer to not use Daylight Savings Time. Another option is always the auto_win attacker/defender cheat, although I find that a bit unsatisfactory most of the time.

Also, if the file I posted in that other thread makes your game crash in campaign mode, are you maybe using the official CoW download instead of Gigantus' RodG installer? At least the campaign works flawlessly for me with that file. You also might look into the virtual storage/UAC fixes again.

Disclaimer: I haven't really tried any of these solutions (except auto_win), so I can't vouch if they work or not, but likely as not these are the only fixes we'll get until Germanicu5 stirs from his slumber.
