    Default Post your playstyle.

Okay so I made this thread to see what type of tactics and units everyone uses when playing multiplayer. So ill start off: When I’m playing on multiplayer I prefer to use keep my sides strong with Full veteran French de la marines and Us Marines with range and accuracy upgrades this means i can destroy their flanks with relative ease and speed (The Range upgrades along with the reload bonus +Gun powder mastery reload bonus means I can pretty much rout there unit in about -30seconds since they usually don’t have veteran units on their sides and cant reply to my fire because of range upgrades there right and left flank falls apart leaving me to envelop the centre) to back up my veterans i usually have very strong cav with them which if I haven’t already used them to counter the enemy’s cav or they have beaten the enemy’s cav i use to charge home after the first units on the flanks have been routed this usually results in me routing there second unit across their flank if they have a third unit in the flank I will usually rout it with superior fire power. If my opponent attempts to strengthen his flanks I will immediately press home my centre attack forcing him to respond if he fails to respond and tries and overwhelm my flanks he simply ends up being outflanked and destroyed. After his flanks have been routed I simply envelop the rest of his army and smash it to pieces.
This is just one of my strategies which I normally use for more set piece battles on open maps with few hills.

6 units of line inf, 2 groups of 3 units, left and right. Each has 150' ranger in middle (marine and WB lvl9) and lower quality rifles for support (torts, torts +1reload, azures, WBs)
    5 units of cav; 4 KI's att 18, 1 Shogunate att 21
    1 kyoto police, 1 shogitai

Sometimes I go with 1 150' ranger and 2 shogitai, 2 kyoto police

I establish line and usually pick cav battle. Then I order naval bombardment on one of flanks and attack with cav, melee and guns there.

I prefer to keep bear infantry as the core to my lines i also always bring one yari kachi and move it up with my weaker side of cav. Once my weaker cav attacks the enemy’s cav i rush my yari kachi in forcing his cav to retreat or stay and die (Its almost impossible to retreat from the moving cav meaning this just turns into a slaughter. I only use 4 cav but one of them has melee damage +2 and charge +1. In terms of Shogitai i only bring them for sieges but they have +2 attack +2 Melee defence. I also usually have a much smaller army because i bring Three 3 full Veterans (Not maxed out everything just +3reload for the Marines Us and France and +1 to the range i also bring tosas with 3+ accuracy and +1 range) I have a completely different play style for small funds but this is my medium funds tactic sometimes i only bring 2 veterans and leave the tosas behind.

Attack the enemy's weak points for maximum amount of damage

Well simple enough due to my General costing me so much koku. I use the simple Black Tortoise Force/Shogetai mix. Its simple and cheap. Not to mention you can field a lot more units than most generals your level can with it. Really all you have to do is use a lot of black torts/shogetai, a couple of Yari ki, and if you have some money left buy yourself a marine. I usually get my french marines 104 Reload skill FTW!. But ovverall I use my Shogetai as the shield. If your facing a shogun 2 player its a great tactic. Put your guns up front, fire a couple rounds, when your enemy gets to close send in the shogetai. They usually kill a lot of regular shogun troops with there high melee attack. if they fail, well you really have to rely on your wits and your melee attack of your black torts. Ovverall i just use hills and rivers to my advantage. Nothing new or revolutionary, kinda an ordinary army-setup. EDIT: Also, Sometimes i might bring a Vermillion Bird or two. Whatever I can get for my money. And if its like a 5k battle. I just bring 4 Black Torts, maybe a white tiger, and one Saber Cav. I've won with it before two times. So its pretty effective if you can't waist the money.

Although most of your tactics are sound I have to disagree with your 5k tactic if you dont bring any veterans to a 5k battle you will get screwed over pretty quick i always bring my full vet French de la marines because of their range and increased reload speed its a true joy to watch them rout a unit before the enemy can even respond to your fire.

I field 4 Yari Ki, 2 Guard Cav and either two revolver cav or 2 bow cav. All are heavily vetted and tends to cost a lot. Infantry consists of whatever I can get for as cheap as possible, but I try to get two bow units in the mix there too. I prefer my bows to heckle my opponent's cav and bring him forward in reach of my own cav and out of the range of his infantry. Killing my opponent's cav, I can then demolish his infantry with my remaining cav whilst he tries to shoot up my crappy infantry.

Essentially, I invite my opponent to make a mistakes then capitalise. ;-)

hmmm, I always field my armies in style of corps depends on the oppentent I am facing. I field 2 marine units, artillery unit, 2 Elite infantry units, 4 Line infantry units, 4 Yari Cavalry units. If I have leftover funds, I bring a filler or another vetern unit. I form my infantry in columns to spread out without rushing them. My cavalry engages the enemy cavalry to rout them. My artillery takes out the enemy's artillery or dangerous unit to take out. Soon, my infantry are once near the distance they form as a two man line formation and attack at will. Free without enemy artillery to bug me, I commit the attack with my artillery to weaken their lines which leaves infantry brigades (Two infantry units each brigades) to do the work. The remaining cavalry I got are going around the enemy's lines to decimated their general and their lines. With superior reloading and aiming skill of my infantry units, the enemy line infantry are being routed.

Much of my FOTS armies are based around Pointman's art of war (check his youtube) with some modifications sometimes I use an extra 5th sabre cavalry sacrificing one line or one yari infantry.

I vet heavily three of my yari ki's named them Uesugi (atk replenish build), Fire (atk-chrge build) and Wind. (atk speed build) then I bring a vanilla yari ki for the last cavalry.

I only bring 1 150 range most of the time except on ricefields (2) and gunma (all skirmishers). In gunma i just hide in the forest and fire away

My strategy depends on both my opponents as well as the terrain.
If it is a wiser plan to remain on the highground, then I will do so. If I can easily defeat them by advancing, then I advance. I tend to attapt my playing style to best use what is available.
