Default what ram is compatible with my motherboard?

    Hi guys,

i built my computer 3 years ago, with 4GB RAM at the time was good enough for the job, i upgraded my graphics card and i can play on some vast and beautiful settings but my RAM is struggling to keep up with the graphics card, the PCU is fine but certainly time to upgrade the RAM.

now i cant remember the specs of my previous RAM and lost all connection with computing and components i was a novice to begin with building my computer.

i have this mother board and i have from what i could work out three available slots for stick(s) of RAM.

i know it supports DDR3 slots, but will my motherboard support 2000MHz, if not what is the maximum speed it can support?

Also i noticed RAM is now sold in packs of two or four when i need 3 is it worth buying 4 and keeping one spare?

    Edit:

managed to find my invoice my current RAM is G-Skill 4GB (2x2GB) 1600MHz Ripjaws

so your running a dual channel kit on a board that uses Triple channel which means your losing bandwidth and your rig wasnt properly setup to begin with?

if thats the case buying 4 sticks to match the 2 sticks you already have gives your 6 sticks which lets you run 2 sets of triple channel.

dont bother with high end expensive high speed memory its not going to net you any magical improvements,

\regardless if your have 2x2GB already you can by a single 2GB stick slot it in and that gives your 2GB x3 for proper triple channel with a total of 6gb.

I ran out of money when i built the computer and was a little brash with the RAM addmittingly so, and im a novice!

problem is the sticks i have are disscontinued and there are upgraded versions of that make, i only have 3 slots so what would you reccomend

    6GB x2x2x2

    or go for 4GB sticks?

6gb would be fine and cheaper but 4GB sticks is fine as well,

cheapest option is to get another stick roughly similar to what you have,

do you have the exact make model of your RAM available usually theres a specific product code printed on the sticks,

    example my mushkins are 997007

    with proper information

aka make model timings voltage, i can find a suitable 2GB stick that you can add to your system bringing you up to 6GB without the need to replace what you have already.
