I had the idea posted in the idea thread on the total war forums, I m actually curious what you guys think of it?
AI: Making the battle AI behave different for important leaders. If I d had to compare it to WWII: if you have a General named Rommel then he d use blitzkrieg tactics against you and he d be a very agressive opponent. What we seem to have now is 1 AI for everything, while we could have different types of AI depending on the general.
Defensive & cautious general = defensive AI , Offensive general = agressive AI , "normal" general = standard AI. Have a different AI combat behavior for important and good Generals like Julius Ceasar or Hannibal, this will give the player more immersion into the game as these generals will prove more of a challenge as you might need to adapt your tactics to figth them
Another interesting feature if you would have the different AI's is that if you d press autoresolve that you still could be able to have the option to see the AI battle it out against the other AI. It would be like you d be watching replay video: a lot of people don't like playing ship battles (and always autoresolve them), but they could be able to enjoy watching them. Or you could have the option to controll 1 unit in the autoresolve battle between the 2 AI's so you don't have to worry about the big scale but are able to enjoy being in the middle of the fight while the AI makes the tactical decisions. Like the control over 1 soldier in a legion and if it dies you swap to another one or you can choose another unit (this also creates an opportunities for multiplayer, where 1 player could controll the whole army and others players could be playing with individual units of that army: like in this game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTylF...eature=g-all-c this could be an example for how to do it in Napoleon total war.
I m not sure if this is already the case, but from what I recollect I always thought that it was the same AI for every general
