    Default Prisoners?

Hello i was wondering about whether or not prisoners will be incorperated into rome 2 like medieval 2 total war. im just asking because medieval 2 was the only one that had the option to kill, sell or let go prisoners. i can understand why shogun 2 didnt have the option. i really would like that back just because it makes me feel like a badass when i hold the fate of others in my hands.

The Romans were big on selling whole populations into slavery, deportation on a massive scale, large scale atrocity and so on in order to stabilise freshly conquered, or continually rebellious territories. From the conquest of Carthage, the suppression of the judean revolt, the justinian reconquests and right through to basil bulgaroctonus and alexius comnenus (well over a thousand years) the roman empire pursued remarkably stable policies in this regard. I don't know how it could be adequately represented in game though.

easy, prisoners of war had two options (well, the romans had two options) sell them as slaves/gladiators or execute them. Not just captured soldiers but also populations of towns that have been captured.

    Bring Back "Execute the Population!!!!"

You can free the prisoners, execute, ransom or sell them into slavery.

I'd like it if you could be discriminating. If the Sarmatians and Seleucids are allied, for instance, and you want to destroy the Seleucids but think that you can get the Sarmatians to switch sides, maybe if you fight a battle against their combined forces, you could execute all the Seleucids and release the Sarmatians. Or if you capture a mixture of common soldiers and noblemen, you could enslave the commoners but ransom the nobles, etc.

Arguable slavery was one of the most important factors in the roman empire. It would be stupid of CA not to implement it (although it is controversial ofcourse).

I hope they do make it more deeper gameplay wise than in medieval 2, by simply clicking one of the 3 options. There could be a whole slave trading system behind it or so.. that would be very interesting. Like an economy of its own..

Like army ants looking for involuntary labourers.

I also hope to see this kind of feature in Rome II.

Of course it should be in. It should be in EVERY game of TW warfare, even Shogun 2.

I don't think ransoming/releasing prisoners would work for the time period, from a historical accuracy standpoint.

If enemies killed when routing became slaves (because that's how taking prisoners was handled in M2TW), that would make sense, though.

Not so easy. There were more than two options for a start.

I have always stated I want prisoners back. I just think it is more realistic. You can make money, instill fear (through added "dread" traits to your general), role play, etc. I really hope they make a return in Rome II. PoW were enslaved anyway.
