    Default make battle better

THere's been a lot of talk about historical accuracy, multiplayer, campaign and mods, but surprisingly little suggestions about the battle of TW. Here's what I think the battles of R2TW will need the most. Feel free to post urs.

One huge flaw in the battle system is how soldiers always engage on one on one duels. For example, realisticly three yari ashigaru soldiers should be able to take down one katana samurai with ease, if they have the samurai surrounded on all three sides. However, in S2TW, (as well as Empire and Napoleon) the katana samurai would likly win cause he can take out the ashigaru one by one in 3 different duels. This is obviously highly unrealistic. If I was an ashigaru I wouldn't wait until my friends have been eliminated one by one before I attack the samurai. I would hack at that sucker from behind while he's fighting my friend.
FOr example, I wish to see a leginaire fighting a germanic axemen, when suddenly another german swings his axe at the leginaire's unportected back. This is currently not possible in Shogun. Right now soliders are morel likily to sit and watch, and can only kill when their enemy is directly facing them.
THank you for reading. THis is my little suggestion. I think if this is fixed in R2TW, the game& the battle would vastly improve!

I've been saying that alot of things in TW have improved but the battle mechanics have changed the most slowly of any elements. Probably CA is trying to be careful with any changes not to "ruin" the gameplay but it does seem strange that battles are nearly the same in 2012 as in 2000 aside from graphical improvements. Not that battles have not changed at all as some aspects of terrain are slightly better represented and BAI has gotten a bit better but the improvements are so slow and at least for Shogun 2 it felt like regression not improvement.

Archery mechanics, some aspects to show why maintaining cohesion of formation is important, and BAI are the most needing improvement.

Then terrain, cavalry, and again BAI.

yep that was my biggest gripe with combat mechanics/animations, since ETW, that the animations look like everyone is in duel mode, even though it was stated that numbers, flanking and such was still taken into effect, it just didn't feel that way, watching mini duels occur and no teamwork/support among units, in ME2:TW you would sometimes see a guy save a guy just about to be finished off on the ground, or generally seeing attacks interrupted saving a comrade in one way or another.

CA did state they are aware of this in one of the earlier interviews with Rome 2, and are trying to do somthing about it, i really hope they can, since this is a period, were teamwork and formations go hand in hand, and when all cohesion is broke, i want to see guys getting cut down from behind during a fight and such, flipped over shields and finished off, or at the last second being run through from behind just before attempting to finished the guy on the ground off, some real dirty fighting

O yeah, and somthing from the movie gladitor, a guy getting his arm lobbed off before being able to strike with it

I Hope they Re-introduce RTW/M2TW fight techniques so numbers WILL matter in combat.

I guess this somewhat answers your concern.
