    I have another suggestion. Movement points of all units should be increased by 30%. TATW map is huge and movement is just too slow for most factions. It would also add a lot in terms of strategy because 1 army would be able to reach multiple towns in 1 turn so defender would need to think carefully where and how to defend.

    It would greatly reduce the tactical component in my opninion. Now it's basically a chess game, which I like alot.

    Some more suggestions. How would you feel about being able to construct forts? If you are skeptical and afraid that people will spam forts, we could increase the cost to 2000-3000 per fort and have a maximum of 1-2 forts per region.

    Forts in my opinion will just slow down the Hotseat because people will have to take a fort out just to get to the settlement and have its army weakend and not having a good chance against taking it.

    A 2000/3000 fort would still earn itself back in a couple of turn, depending on the units inside of course.

    Also, before we'd get working on some HS patch, it might be good to first agree on what we actually want. The HS population seems hopelessly divided on important matters.

    Couldn't we add some extra forts by default and not grant players the option to make them theirselves?

    You're right about that.
    Possible, if we'd agree on which factions would need them and possibly on the locations as well. I just thought of making a major survey for all HS players. The outcome of it should help us in creating a fitting HS patch.

    Some people favor the same factions, possibly leaving out other smaller factions. Ofcourse the ratio will have to be the larger between for example Minas Tirith and Dale. As someone earlier mentioned, ranger I believe, would everyone want for all factions to have atleast 1 minor city? Might be more fun being able to fight with late era troops earlier.

    There is the executioner submod by Withwnar but I don't know if it is hotseat compatible.

    Apart from adding some fixed forts, we could maybe add extra free upkeep slots to some buildings.

    Also cheaper growth and economic buildings are perhaps a good idea, so they earn there cost back faster. That way markets might even become useful...

    I'm mainly looking for things that strenghten less aggressive players, so people have a choice between conquering or infrastructure. By adding free upkeep to buildings the defensive army of these players could be strong enough to hold attackers off when combined with more elite units due to higher population.

    No. More free upkeep slots means people won't attack, which means the HS will become slower. Markets are very useful as it is. The more trading you do with other factions and with a market it boosts your trade income.

    A question if i may (this may not be the incorrect thread but i have been getting so many internal server errors it's either here or no where right now)

    -i understand you are making a patch for HS
    - and i understand The Norseman wants to start skipped turn hotseats

    right my question why don't you just edit descr_strat in this case? instead of giving the dumb AI semi control you can just take full control and it would mean you could make diplomacy,treasury,infrastructure and starting army compilation what you want it to be?

    not only would this take out of the equation the dumb AI it would also stop complaints about the AI messing up the balance in these games that would start med way through.

    and also important because you could save the customized descr_strat to desktop once it's done it wouldn't have to be redone so it would save much time on the Admins part

    (i am also sorry if this has been mentioned in an appropriate thread or this thread but because of these darn internal server errors i can't even search the thread)

    come to think of it you could probably make custom files just for your Hotseat TATW because the submods really don't work in hotseats

    Yeah we are making a HS patch, as well as a skip a few campaign. The meaning with a skip a few campaign is that you will not be aware of how things start out and that is what makes it so much fun. We did not know the skip a few would create some bugs, because in for example Stainless Steel there are no bugs when you do a skip a few, but in TATW there are. Those have been fixed now though, except for the bug with the king not being present, though I think everyone are missing their kings so it is pretty even anyways.

    So what do you think about the idea with HS Patch? There were already many discussions about balancing hotseats, also Nice suggested some things http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...nt-suggestions but we never came further then that. Perhaps I could try to work on those ideas and join them in one HS Patch but do you think it is worth doing it? After all we can play hotseats at current conditions and those unbalances aren't so fatal.

    I think a patch would be great. Atm some factions are useless like Harad in AR, while other factions have no hope of beating another faction unless the other faciton plays a bad game like Gondor v Mordor and Harad and Rohan v Isengard.
