Console help after unpacking

I recently installed m2tw main game and the americas kingdom pack, my favourite of the four. I have the gold edition of m2tw. Its been about two years since i had it installed. I was surprised i now had to unpack files myself this time as it all fully installed before. But after unpacking i went to the descr_shortcuts file and removed the word hidden from the show_console line. I then started up the game and proceeded to click the default settings button on keyboard settings misc screen. However the show debug console command/control thing did not appear. Can someone tell me why it didnt and how i fix this please. Any help is much appreciated

Simple press the button on your keyboard with the squiggle ~ when you are in game - you got confused with RTW I think.

Thank you for the help but I think you're confused at what I mean. In my actual keyboard settings in the options menu for the game there is no command for me to assign a key so that when I press the key in game, the squiggle as you say, so that the cheat shell appears.

To find out your keyboard language, go into control panel and choose 'Region and Language'
Click on the 'Keyboards and languages' tab
Click on 'Change Keyboards'




This should enable you to ask the right questions as people will have to know your keyboard's language.

It depends on the game's language which key pulls up the console. For US/UK keyboards, the tilde works. For other languages, you will have to search for it. Possibly Google will come up with yours. The tilde key on US/UK boards is the key to the left of 1. I'd start there.
