    Default Éire

Basically i want to have an exodus from spain to ireland and create a goidelic kingdom. The problem i have is that it will take forever to build boats and actually get there. Any suggestions on the quickest and (possibly separately) best way to do this.

Well, the simplest way would be to conquer your way to north France, then use the console command to move them across to Britain and eventually Ireland. You don't need boats for that.

Just make sure you enabled the Goidilic units because they were disabled in one of the versions, I think. I could be wrong on this so check before starting a new game in case it's not save game compatible.

Cheat? Either find a region you can build Boats from and cheat your way into being able to build boats, or just Teleport your armies from the beginning of the game directly to Ireland and take over a city.

and (possibly separately) best way to do this.
Without cheating? ... Hell if I know. Tech up to boats and pray you don't hit any uber Pirate Fleets?

Only the two Elite Goidilic units (Ordmalica and Dubosaverlacica). The other Goidilic units (Eiras, Cladaca, Vellinica (sp?), and Cruvamendica) are still there. Also, since the fix should just be editing the EDB file, it should be save-game compatible.
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.

Bring up the console and type: move_character [name]
I know the console commands, i was just thinking of a good strategy rather than 'cheating' as such
EDU and EDB changes are compatible with saves.

Here is a map that will help you determine where to conquer first and upgrade population and ports to build up a fleet quickly if you want to do a naval invasion. From spain it looks like taking Vellika is your best option. Then traveling up the coast. If you are only moving one army at time in one ship at a time, I'd advise about landing your army along the coast instead of ending turn with them in the ship. There be pirates up there and one ship will be sunk and all your men sent to Davy Jones' Locker.

This map shows where the military ports can be built:

baby blue is required for a Naval Bay (level 1)
blue is required for a Naval Harbor (level 2)
blue is ALSO required for a Naval Port (level 3)

Ah, cool thanks, that really helps, i didn't even know where the ports could be built.

    Good idea!

I might just do that for my next campaign!

I actually did this exact same thing, except I just used the console to move my entire family and starting armies to Ireland, abandoning Iberia entirely. It worked out fairly well and was fun for awhile, but once I consolidated my hold over Britain it was kind of a dead campaign since it didn't make sense to expand anywhere (role playing as Goidelic people, not as Iberians who migrated to Ireland in272 B.C. ) and thus the recruitment I had was extremely limited. Plus no one would attack me, being on an island and all.

go to the EDB, and delete all entries of NOT_HERE on the units, and you will have them.

I did it the more traditional way of building armies and taking most of Iberia before setting sail for ireland, now i've abandoned the homeland and i control ireland and scotland. It's not been that exciting really, the iberian part of it really just proved to me that the area definitely needs a new faction for competition because the Carthies just try and take Arsé and fail and then switch focus to africa (no backstabbing or anything) and there's nobody else here. The Lusotannan just start with too many troops for it to be difficult. I'll probably try the Casse next, i've tried before but never really managed it, the rebels are just too fiesty.

I believe that a new Iberian faction is planned for EB II.

I do agree that the rebels in Iberia in EB should be stronger, but I'm pretty sure that there are no new updates coming for EB so oh well.

I don't mind tbh, Iberia isn't a place i'd play in normally (my view is mostly an eastern/greek one). It was fun enough it's just that the towns and such don't regenerate their garrisons so even if you fail once you can usually try again in a few years, there's no coherent effort to repulse you across the peninsula. Also once i got mines the money was coming in too fast to spend (the army that invaded ireland was probably more elite than it should have been just because i needed the higher upkeep to stay below 50k and avoid the bad traits).

I have that problem in my Koinon Helleon game! I'm launching an expedition to take the Bosphorus mainly because I'm at 100,000 mnai and won't go below it no matter how extravagant my building program is. So the solution is to expand the fleet, recruit another army, and send half a dozen scrub family members off into the wild blue yonder.
