    Default Ambushes

    In Rome and M2TW it was a rare treat for me to have an enemy fall into an ambush. I'd have have my infantry engage the enemy on one side then sandwich them with my cav, yet I never was quite satisfied with this.

    I don't think I did any ambushes in ETW or S2TW but I thought Empire had a cool feature for defenders to lay obstacles for the attacker. I'd like to see something like that in Rome 2 for ambushes. Like laying wooden stakes to prevent cavalry from escaping or using pitch and tar to light on fires in ways that force the enemy to move where you want them to.

    It also wouldn't hurt to have a little cinematic for your first ambush where a Roman legion marches nervously through a forest when trees suddenly fall in front and behind the column and war cries start sounding.

    Well just a thought. Opinions?

    There are apparently stances for your army such as 'defensive' and 'forced march' which I guess mean avoiding ambushes and getting places quickly but carelessly, respectively. Hopefully they will flesh out ambushes a bit.

    That would be a great feature.

    I also wrote on similar topic about how I hope that they will work more on that part about being able to deploy your forces on similar way you mentioned, and also to be able depending on the general traits to have some sort of boulders, spike and such, so some sort of guerilla fight

    The problem in the last titles was out of my view that we had no real ambushes. I could hiding an army in woods as it looks like on the Campaign Map, but in the end my Army attacks in an open field just that they had the opportunity to attack from all sides. I would like to see that they really attack out of a wood or a valley like it was in the battle scenario in Rome 1 "The battle of the teutoburg forest". That had a bit fealing of an ambush.

    This. I have made ambushes where I deployed my troops in the open field prior to battle, like, I would say 100 or 200 meters from the nearest tree or even bushes line. What the hell?

    Ambushes in forests should be all similar maps, where the narrow road is filled with the enemy troops in a column and your troops can be deployed only in hidden positions at the start of the battle, relatively near the enemy, at least at bow range or less.
