a. hit points +2 b. defence +2 (if this applies to defence stat and NOT command-while-defending) c. personal security + 1
"Woven from silvery-blue threads of a strong material, the mystical Blue Mail increases its wearer's defense."
It should obviously increase survivability. I would imagine since it is a mystical suit of mail, it would be something of a prestige item. Being a prestige item, I would imagine that its wearer would keep it on longer than just on the battlefield- he/she'd want to show it off and wear it as long/often as possible. As such, if an assassin came to knock this person off, he/she would be better protected than a person not wearing armor.
Regarding the remaining concerns for the ancillary:
f. type: armor
g. transferrable
h. cultural availability: all
i. incompatibility: other armor
j. unique: no, but rare. (decrease appearance rate or make requirements to gain it somewhat difficult).
Red Mail
a. hit points +4 b. defence +4 (if this applies to defence stat and NOT command-while-defending) c. personal security + 1
"Woven from crimson threads of an unbelievably strong material, the mystical Red Mail dramatically increases its wearer's defense."

Pegasus Boots
a. +2 subterfuge
As an entire army cannot be outfitted with Pegasus Boots (for the sake of argument), they should be available to single characters (agents). Particularly useful for stealthy agents, the Boots would enable to make daring entrances at unnatural speeds and hasty exits should they fail.
Regarding the remaining concerns for the ancillary:
a. type: tool
b. transferrable
c. cultural availability: all
d. incompatibility: other boots
e. unique: no, but rare. (decrease appearance rate or make requirements to gain it difficult).

Book of Mudora
a. Troop Morale bonus +2 b. Law +2 c. Piety +1
The bonuses here represent my interpretation of the usefulness of the Book of Mudora based on its description, rather than its in-game functionality. It is described as a "green book. . . a chronological bibliography of the creation, history and legends of Hyrule. The book also contains prophecies and laws of Hyrule, along with translations for the ancient Hylian Language."
The morale bonus would stem from a pre-battle reading or oration given to the army, by the holder of the Book of Mudora, based on the text. The law bonus is because of the laws of Hyrule contained therein; the piety bonus stems from the prophecies which the book also holds.
Regarding the remaining concerns for the ancillary:
a. type: holy relic
b. transferrable
c. cultural availability: should probably be a Hyrule-exclusive ancillary
d. incompatibility: none at the time of this post
e. unique: probably not? I would imagine that there are multiple copies, but it was only necessary to feature one in the game. Otherwise, I would imagine it would be harder to get to.

This man was born with a "gift": he is so plain and boring he's practically invisible. He pretty much squandered this gift by enlisting as a soldier rather than becoming a spy... but typically, any general he serves under will eventually take note of his talent and employ him as such, thus obtaining extra intelligence.

Transferable
Finance -6, Hit Points +3, Influence +3
Only Hyrule can gain it (but if another race kills the wearer then it is transferred to the victor... don’t know if this is possible)
Not compatible with other types of armor
Only one is in existence
The magic armor is said to have been a gift from the Goddesses to the Royal Family of Hyrule, it grants the wearer extra life during battle but the cost of this is the armor consuming rupees making it an expansive armor to wear.

The pure, crystalized state of an ancient curse of malice, this powerful crystal will grant a boost in magic at the cost of reducing one's own purity (+dread -loyalty).

Welcome everybody to the big list of potential ancillaries!
It is my hope that this will become a popular community project.
As you can see, I've made a fairly big list of items and people from the Zelda series, not all items and certainly not all people, just the ones whom I thought could make good ancillaries.
So what happens now? We go through the list and start pooling ideas as to what each ancillary could do exactly.
For every ancillary we would like to see in the game, we will have to come up with the following data: a type (security, academic, entertainment etc.), whether it is or not transferable, up to five effects (usually the increase or decrease of some stat, like piety, troop morale, hit points, tax collection etc.), if any cultures can't gain the ancillary, if it is incompatible with any other ancillary (clearly no one's gonna wear both Zora and Magic Armor)
and whether or not it is unique (that is, if only one of it can exist at a given time... there could be many compasses, but we can't have several Sahasrahlas going around, can we?)
As we gather data, I will edit my list to add it next to each ancillary.
A particularity concerning weapons and armors... Neph said he can make it so that upon acquiring one, the General's model changes to bring it onto the battlefield.
Needless to say, you should not expect many weapons to make it in... but some probably will, so do feel free to contribute data for them!
I think that should be about all. In closing let me add that this list is a tool, it is by no means intended to be restrictive. If you feel that some items or characters are missing, do feel free to suggest them (possibly with the necessary data).
And lastly, since I've taken this task upon myself, I should give a forewarning that contributions I don't think fit may be rejected (like say, if you wanted to add the ancillary "green rupee"... that wouldn't make much sense. Or to stick to those already in the list, if you suggested a minus five charisma for the bearer of the Tempered Sword without a valid justification).
Of course since it IS Neph's mod, anything he approves will make it in... and I will give in to popular demand as well
Here is a list of the stats the can usually be modified by ancillaries, including the minimum and maximum amounts that can be altered for each of them.

Gale Seeds: these could give the general the ability to retreat from every battle, even when all his movement is used up for the turn. (don't know if that's possible, but would be cool.)
Ember Seeds: If the general's bodyguard are archers, it would enable them to have fire arrows. (obviously the Kokiri would not get this, as their archers already have fire arrows.)
Scent Seeds: they could be for a spy, as a distraction tool.
Pegusus Seeds: they could increase the general's movement distance each turn, like he could go farther.
dunno, just a thought. like it or hate it as you will.
i'll look at the others you suggested soon and try to think what they would do.

Mh, so it would... we should investigate that.

Sounds good too!

So they'd raise a stat? Uhm, come to think of it, this thread could really use a comprehensive list of all stats in the game. I wonder where I could find one.

Mh, yes... you could say that he has enough for himself and his men... whereas the Pegasus Boots would only raise his own speed in battle perhaps.
Where's the Mystery Seeds?

Have fun, but don't forget, we need more than just effects, there's also type, transferability, excluded cultures, incompatibilities and uniqueness

Well for Generals there's the main stats of:
Command
Chivalry/Dread
Piety
and Loyalty/Respect (for rulers)
And then there are there bonuses to tax, happiness in a province, campaign speed, bonuses to command in certain situations, hit points, and religion modifiers.
That's as much as I can think of currently, and I'm sure someone can come along later and put up a comprehensive list afterwards. But I think this good for a rough list at least.
For Diplomats they have diplomacy, Merchants mercantile, Princesses loveliness, Spies and Assassin's have subterfuge.
Mystery Seeds- Makes it harder for opponents to detect what units and buildings you have with the general.
Perhaps... but those were never used to hide anything in the games, as far as I can remember. Rather they could reveal stuff (most notably Veran from hiding within people)

Hoho, someone questioning my knowledge of Zelda games? Challenge accepted!
I will readily concede this, if you had started that sentence with the words "In ALttP" you would have been correct.
In that game, we only have two swords, the basic one Link's uncle gives to you
and the upgradable Master Sword, pictured here in all its glory:

But what you probably are not aware of, is that the situation is quite different in BS Zelda Ancient Stone Tablets.
In that game,
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
we can have the initial sword sharpened by the smiths (I had actually forgotten about this passage)
Then in a later dungeon we find a red Tempered Sword
And once we have that, it becomes possible to rent a Golden Sword
But none of those are the Master Sword, which we can only retrieve from its pedestal (still in its golden form) near the end of the game.
They don't shoot beams, they lack the power to repel evil and can't pierce through magic barriers.
I suppose you could object that I listed them under ALttP, not AST... but it didn't seem necessary to list AST when most of its items are the same as in ALttP (though then again I did list PH with just Force under it...)
And granted, the artworks above were all made for A Link to the Past... but seeing as they don't look like the Master Sword, I figured I may as well use them for the swords in BSZelda AST.

Admiral's only have command.
Different agents have diferent stats then? Well this might be more complicate than I thought...

Hey Duke, perhaps if it's possible, could you gain the trait/ ancilliary by completeing events? Or capturing specific settlements? Like if you Capture the fire Temple, or Death mountain, your general who captured it acquires the Goron Tunic? Or if you capture Stone Tower Ruins you're general who captured it obtains the great fairy's sword?
Oh dear, I'm not nearly knowledgeable enough about this game to answer those questions. I only specialize in Zelda lore, hence the long list without a single attribute yet
Hopefully Neph and/or Pilgrim will come to the rescue. Or someone else who's played enough M2:TW to know the answers.
Ok, first off the golden trio actuall appeared in the flesh during Oracles!? Well, now that I got that out of my system, how in the great land of Hyrule do you expect a general to have one of the three goddesses in their retinue, aside of course from Link himself. He is the only one I think might be semi-worthy and even that is doubtful.
